THE COSMETIC REPORT
September 2, 2003

This week I am pleased to share our Panelist Debbie's review of Aloette aloe-based skincare. Enjoy, and happy shopping!

Debbie is 41 years old and lives in sunny San Diego, California. Her skintone is light and she has combination skin, with her cheeks more on the dry side. She has been know to have up to 11 foundations at one time, which makes foundations one of her obsessions and the second is always searching for the perfect non-waterproof mascara that lengthens, adds volume, won't flake, smudge, gives dark pigment and lasts all day - a tall order to fill. She currently owns more makeup than she could possibly use in her lifetime and probably about 50 lipglosses (how can one person own that many?) and still that doesn't stop her from buying more, but it's all in the name of research, right? Have a question for Debbie? Email her here.

And now for Debbie's reviews!

I have wanted to try this line for quite some time but never seemed to get around to it, until one Saturday morning I turned on one of the many home shopping channels and there was Claudia Cohen, the owner of Aloette, and I must say she does look good!

This particular kit, "Restore Your Youth", seemed like a great price for all I got ($54.96 for five items) and I wanted to try most of the items anyway.

Decollete Restore
For neck and chest area, highly emollient containing lightening and firming properties. Besides the aloe, included are Jojoba Esters, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycerin and Squalene. This seems moisturizing but that is about it - didn't notice any firming or lightening of that area.

Restorative Enzyme Peel
This product contains 54% aloe and gently exfoliates dead skin as you move your fingers around in a circular motion. I love that it is non-abrasive. It felt smooth and gentle and left my face so smooth for makeup! Definitely one of my favorites in this kit! I would re-purchase this separately. This has a nice delicious grapefruit scent to it.

Eye Restore Complex
Supposed to reduce deep lines, wrinkles, dark circles, skin roughness and skin redness, the last two I hadn't heard of before with eye cream claims. I have heard of dryness around the eyes as I have that, but roughness and redness? Now, this is also supposed to stimulate collagen production up to 327%, but how is that possible? What I did find was that it is lightweight, non greasy and hydrating and didn't interfere with my eye makeup. This contains shea butter, vitamins A, C, E, K and of course, aloe. The more I use this eye cream, the more I like it and would have no problem re-purchasing this item also.

Maximum Moisture Complex
Of course this cream is noted for anti-aging and contains 32% aloe, shea butter, humectants to help draw water to the skin and hold in moisture. At first this cream didn't seem to sink in but sit on my skin, but then I noticed it had disappeared and my skin seem hydrated and moist. It probably isn't one of my favorite night creams but it does the job of moisturizing. As for the anti-aging claims, well, I guess you could say if your face is properly moisturized then fewer lines show?

Translucent Veil
This is a talc-free pressed powder, which I like because talc is drying. This contains vitamin E and green tea and leaves a light silky matte finish that is transparent. It is supposed to tighten and lighten up the face, which again I didn't find. Can be worn alone for sheer natural look or over foundation, which is how I applied it.

All in all I actually liked these products and would like to try Aloette's Cellular Day Defense with SPF 15. I don't think there was any brightening or firming action going on with any of the products, but they did moisturize quite nicely without any breakouts and we all know that aloe is supposed to contain anti-irritant and soothing properties.

You can purchase these products at Aloette.com or ShopAtHomeTV.com. I suggest ShopAtHomeTV.com if you want to try a few items at once as you can buy kits for a better price. If you want individual items than check out Aloette.com.

Thanks, Debbie. I hope you enjoyed this issue of The Cosmetic Report!

Until next time,

Editor-in-Chief
