Whether you've got a little one at home, or you just love to baby yourself, these baby skin care products are just the thing to pamper delicate skin.
Mustela
I first heard about these products when I was pregnant, and they sounded appealing. Most of the Moms I know who use Mustela have babies who like to eat everything, or at least put everything in their mouths. Now that my Hannah is 6 months old, she is putting just about everything into her mouth, too! My only gripe with Mustela is that the products really aren't as "all natural" as they claim; they have some chemical ingredients just like most other brands.
2 in 1 Hair and Body Shampoo
I bought this cleanser for our recent trip to the East Coast (comes in an easily portable tube), but it smells so nice, I've been using it ever since. It does a great job on both body and hair without the slightest bit of irritation or drying (at least not for us). The fliptop cap on the tube I bought is a pain to open if you are trying to hold the baby with one hand and wash her with the other, unless you have someone to help, so I'd buy a pump version next time.
Cleansing Lotion
This lotion is a lightweight cleanser made from peanut and sweet almond oils that can be used without water. At first I couldn't imagine washing my baby anywhere but the bathtub, until I realized I can use this lotion with a washcloth to clean her face after eating (she loves getting pureed peas all over her face!), or as the cleansing base for the homemade diaper wipes I use (small washcloths, water, and baby oil or cleanser). It's actually really handy and a well-used product in my collection.
Sunblock Stick
Any diaper bag toting Mom knows you have to carry everything you could possibly need for your baby on your back, everything has to somehow fit in this one little bag, and you never have room for anything extra. Thank goodness for this tiny little sunblock stick. I now know I always have sun protection for Hannah when we are out, but I don't have to lug some big bottle of sunscreen around; this stick is only a bit larger than a lipstick.
Hydra Stick
Like the Sunblock Stick, this one is tiny, portable, and easy to use wherever you or your baby needs a little moisture. It's perfect for lips, cheeks, hands, elbows - wherever.
Gymboree CradleGym Baby Care System
I love shopping at Gymboree for Hannah (she looks so cute in their hats!), so when I spotted these new baby care products, I couldn't resist. I bought the travel pack of small sizes to see what I thought before splurging for full sizes.
Gentle Soap
Being the cosmetic snob that I am, when I think "soap" I immediately think it must be bad. This one is actually really gentle, made of palm, coconut and olive oils, lavender essential oil, and aloe vera. It has low lather and it leaves baby's skin clean, soft, and sweet. I'm thinking this would be nice for Moms and Dads, too!
Baby Shampoo
My Hannah's scalp was sensitive from the beginning, so I needed to be careful about what I used on her hair. If a soap or shampoo was too strong, her scalp would get red and flaky. This shampoo is one of the few that does a nice job without being too drying. It does have some standard cleansing agents in it, but they are buffered in a base of evening primrose oil, aloe, and chamomile.
Diaper Rash Cream
You know you are a Mom when you start getting excited about diaper rash cream. When my little one first developed some redness on her tushy, I raced to my local Target and scoured the baby aisle for something "appropriate" for an angel such as mine :) . Most are thick and greasy, and in my experience don't really work, but this one from Gymboree does the job. It's creamy and light but still great at protecting her skin. It's definitely my favorite.
Moisturizing Lotion
For any dry areas on baby's skin, this is a nice medium weight lotion that works well and absorbs quickly. It has safflower, avocado, sweet almond, and evening primrose oil, as well as chamomile and aloe.
Sweet Angel from Anna Carera Cosmetics
This line was created by a Mom in Italy who just wasn't satisfied with the choices available for her son. She wanted natural, plant-based products that would work for a baby's sensitive skin, and here they are!
Baby eau de toilette
Although I like the rose smell of this eau de toilette, I'm not into putting perfume on my baby. I've seen a few European lines with baby perfume (Mustela has one, as does the perfume line Bulgari), so maybe they do things differently than we do here in the US...
Calendula Shampoo
I also like the smell of this shampoo - fresh and fruity - but the product itself was a little drying for Hannah, leaving her scalp a little dry and flaky. If it had more plant oils in it, I think I'd like it better.
Rosemary Refreshing Cream
This is not a petroleum-based barrier cream like the ones most Moms think of, but more of a daily use preventative cream that softens and gently protects the skin from excess moisture. This is my favorite product of the Sweet Angel line.

Aromababies
When your little one is fussy, these aromatherapy products from Aroma Vera are designed to calm and soothe with fragrant herbs and extracts.
Lullaby Bath Milk
Bathtime doesn't always have to mean getting squeaky clean. This non-foaming milk is designed for a fussy baby who is calmed by taking a bath. A blend of very gentle cleansers, jojoba oil, oatmeal, chamomile, and orange flower oil is a perfect addition to a soothing bathtime ritual.
Happy Tummy Rub
For babies with colic or related symptoms (like gas), this lightweight lotion is helpful when combined with gentle massage on the baby's abdomen. The fragrant blend of chamomile and marjoram plus the massage can help relieve your baby's discomfort. I used this almost every day on Hannah for her first three months.
Lullably Rub
After a soothing bath with the Lullaby Milk, follow up with this chamomile and neroli lotion to help your little one get to sleep more easily. This lotion is similiar to the Happy Tummy Rub but is designed to be used all over.
Diaper Care Cream
This is not a thick barrier cream like most diaper rash creams, but rather a light lotion with grape seed oil, oat flour, jojoba oil, shea butter, and tea tree oil that keeps that diaper area soft and lightly protects against excess moisture. The container is also really clever - it has a pushtop with an opening in the middle, so when you press anywhere on the top, the lotion dispenses out of the hole.
Diaper Care Powder
Since I usually use lotions on my baby, I rarely use powder; the combination would make her rather pasty! As powders go, this is a nice one made of cornstarch, chamomile and rosewood. With disposable diapers as absorbant as they are these days, I just haven't seen the need for powder.
I got my Aromababies products from Bliss Spa, and you can, too, by calling 1-888-243-8825.
Johnson & Johnson
Head To Toe All Over Baby Wash
Before my baby was born, I bought a bottle of this all in one wash on the recommendation of some friends with really sensitive skin who use it on their own faces. As mass market baby products go, I like this the best. It has a nice, subtle fragrance and does a great job on baby's skin without drying.
Baby Lotion with Aloe Vera & Vitamin E
This was the first lotion I bought, also before Hannah was born, and I have ended up using it mostly on my own hands! It has that great Johnson's "baby" smell, which I like but found too overpowering to actually put on my baby. The lotion itself is okay, nothing too special, and definitely not for those of you interested in "natural" products.
