I-Iman Makeup
report by Aina of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel

I am a big fan of Iman's original line of cosmetics. The color selection is great and so is the price. Luckily, Iman has recently launched a new, higher end line of cosmetics with bold colors, modern packaging and very original products. A definite contrast to her original line that included great every day classic colors and addressed skin problems many African American women struggle with, like two-toned lips and skin discolorations. This isn't just a line for women of color. It's for all women. I tried a few of the products and here's what I think of them.

I Shimmer ($25)
This is a loose shimmer powder that comes in a colorful array of hues. I got one in shade #3, a bright pink/coral shade with subtle flecks of shimmer. I wasn't sure what to do with this product. The color was sheer enough to be used on the shoulders and décolleté but not sheer enough to be used on the face... Unless you want to use it as a blush, but I didn't like the way the color looked on my cheeks either. There are other colors to choose from -some of them are even more vibrant than the color I tried!

Lip Shine ($15)
This product comes in 10 shades. The color I got, shade #2, is a shimmery light violet or mauvish-pink. The product may be called lip shine but it goes on more like a liquid lipstick with a shiny look. It doesn't look greasy or glassy. It does feel good on the lips and I would probably wear this color for a night out clubbin'. I'd like to check out some of the other colors, especially the yellow color shade #7. What on earth do you do with that!

I Lips ($16)
I really like these lipsticks. They have a slight matte finish to them but are not drying at all. The color lasted most of the day with a few touch-ups here and there. Again the colors are pretty, but definitely not run of the mill. The one I got is a metallic berry coppery pink. I wasn't a fan of this color but I really liked many of the other shades they have to offer. I definitely want to try more colors.

Lip Liner ($14.50)
There was really nothing special about this lip liner. The color I tried, shade #6, is a bright, intense violet that can match both the lip shine and the lipstick I used. The color went on as smoothly as any other lip liner I have. Nothing earth shattering about this. I don't really believe in spending a lot for lip liner unless the color is amazing and this just didn't wow me so I wouldn't buy this again.

I Shadow Duo ($25)
This was by far the most outrageous product I've tried to date. The two colors in my case were red and yellow. What in the world was I going to do with red and yellow eye shadow? I dared not leave the house with these colors on. I guess I'm more conservative with my makeup that I thought. I stayed at home one night and started to play with the colors. I used the yellow over my whole lid and used the red from lash line to crease. As I blended the colors it turned orange, as I suspected it would. Thankfully the yellow eye shadow was sheerer than it looked in the case. My other problem with this product was the stiff brush it came with. It wasted a lot of color both in the container and under my eyes. Talk about eye shadow fallout! I used my regular eye shadow brush with this and it went on much better. I am curious to try the other colors in this product. The cool thing about this is some of the eye shadow duos have both shiny cream and powder shadow. I've never seen that before and I'm really curious to try that.

I Luminous ($27)
This is sort of a shimmer liquid for the face. It comes in two colors and in a neat pump dispenser. It can be worn over makeup or all alone. The color I tried, shade 1, is a bronzy shade, which didn't really give much color. It just gave off a very subtle glow on my face. I could barely tell it was on really.
