Joey New York
report by Aina of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
When I lived in New York City, I loved going to stores like Sephora and spending the day testing and trying all the cosmetics brands I never thought I'd ever have access to. Then I moved to New Jersey where my weekends are now filled with shopping at Target or CVS to find my skincare and cosmetic products. My saving grace has been the Internet. Now I don't have to take a special trip into the city for a cosmetics shopping spree. I can do it right from home and get most of the same products I looked for in the city. One of the brands I had always been curious about is Joey New York. They seem to have a wide variety of products for all types of skin, so when I got the opportunity to try a few, I jumped right on it.
Double Stuff Day/Night Moisturizers ($38)
I really liked the idea of these creams. You can stack them on top of each other or use them separately. I brought the day cream to the gym to keep in my locker. The night cream stayed at home. The night cream was my favorite. It contains red algae and the scent was amazing. It was just what I needed to get my skin through the driest winter of my life. The only part of my face that was shiny in the morning was my nose and that's always shiny. The day cream has an SPF of 30, which is great but it left my skin looking very gray, and wasn't quite enough moisture for my skin to make it through the day.
Pure Pores Roll-on Blemish Fix ($18)
I'd never heard of a product like this before, but I found it quite interesting. I used it in the morning after washing my face and again at night for a few days and just didn't see enough of a difference to stick with it. It had a real medicinal smell to it, and you could feel it tingle for moments afterwards, especially if you use it near the eye area. Unfortunately, my skin and salicylic acid (the active ingredient here) don't go together and I think someone else would have better luck with this blemish treatment. All in all I think it's a cute, convenient idea that might work well for someone without a sensitivity to salicylic acid.
