We've got a ton of great new reviews for you over the coming
weeks, including a look at what's new for spring, so let's get
to it! I'm elbow-deep in body lotions this week, so here's a
peek at what to try and what to ignore.
Al Benessere Hydrating Aloe Body Wash ($24 for 8oz) and
Multi-Vitamin Body Lotion ($24 for 8oz)
Al Benessere ("toward well-being" in Italian) is a new aromatherapy bath & body line designed just for taking more time for yourself, and who doesn't
need that? I had the opportunity to try the body wash in "Refreshing" and body lotion in "Relaxing"; each product comes in Refreshing (Grapefruit, Lavender, Orange and Geranium), Relaxing (Lavender, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Lemongrass, and Roman Chamomile) or Invigorating (Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Lavender and Patchouli).
The body wash delivers just the right amount of lather using a
small amount on a puff or washcloth, and it's not drying to the
skin. The Refreshing fragrance smells both fruity and slightly
floral, but not overpowering. If you like something subtle that
won't conflict with your favorite scented lotion or perfume,
this is a nice choice.
The body lotion is lightweight and greaseless, good if you have
only slightly dry skin; seriously dry skin will need something
more substantial. It also has a subtle fragrance. For the level
of dryness that I usually have, this lotion is not rich enough
for me.
All in all, I think these are nice products but nothing
exceptional or particularly unique. I've used shower gels and
lotions from other brands like Lush, Carol's Daughter, Skin
Market, The Body Shop and Deep Steep that I like better. You can
find Al Benessere online at fourseasonsproducts.com.
Revlon Vitamin C Absolutes Re-Energizing Body Lotion ($14)
I'm on a body lotion kick, so I picked up this lotion over all
the other choices in Revlon's new vitamin C line (includes a
variety of skin care products). Unfortunately, there is little,
if anything, I like about it. It's not rich enough to really
quench dry skin, it's not energizing, and the citrus scent
smells rather plastic and artificial. The only positive is the
nice, subtle shimmer the lotion leaves on the skin, but you can
get shimmer in a better smelling lotion like BeneFit Lightning
or Stila Aqua Flaunt.
Carol's Daughter Body Milk ($11.95 for 8oz)
Often when I am testing a particular product, I continue using
it longer than I normally would, just for the sake of the
review. I figure, maybe if I use it for a full week or month,
I'll like it better, or I'll get used to the smell, or what have
you. With a lotion like this one from Carol's Daughter, I knew I
loved it the moment I put it on. I just got this bottle in her
Chocolate Milk scent just a few days ago and already I am sold.
Not only does it smell absolutely, positively incredible, it
moisturizes so completely - it's perfect. I couldn't resist it
in Chocolate Milk, but if you prefer *not* to smell edible, Body
Milk also comes in African & Egyptian Musk, Guavaberry, Nutmeg
Nectar, Aloe & Kiwi for Men, The Sea, and Almond Milk.

Skin Market Body Whip ($11.95 for 6oz)
I also feel strongly about this unique whipped body cream from
Skin Market - it rocks! This souffle cream melts instantly into
the skin and has the most intoxicating scent - I bought the
citrus berry, and every time I use it I feel like I should be
sitting on a beach sipping daiquiris! The texture is light but
rich on the skin - perfect for dry legs, elbows, hands. Body
Whip also comes in fresh, ocean, pear and tropical.
