I received quite a few email this past weekend from those of you who were eagerly awaiting your Cosmetic Report, but it never arrived. Let me start by saying that The Cosmetic Report and Cosmetic Connection are still going strong! I have been battling some annoying mail problems, so please check Cosmetic Connection online for any issues you missed. Things should be back to normal now!
In other interesting news, on top of my email problems, I have also been a bit "under the weather" lately. I appreciate all of your "get well" wishes, but this is actually a condition I'd rather not be relieved of - I'm pregnant (due in December)! You can still expect The Cosmetic Report and new reviews on Cosmetic Connection (hopefully with some pregnancy-related skin care product reviews soon), but don't be surprised if things take a little longer or if reports are a little shorter. Cosmetic Connection is still commited to being your best source for advertising-free cosmetic information and advice online!
Now, on to this week's report! It may be summer, but the cosmetic companies are already thinking about fall. MAC seems to have the grandest plans for fall, including an extensive color line and brand new packaging for all their products. With so many clones on the market, MAC has decided it's time for something new. What it will look like is anybody's guess! The new packaging will launch in September with their fall color collection, Earth Goddess. This promises to be their largest seasonal collection yet, and while I couldn't learn much about the exact colors yet, I imagine its earth and jewel tones will be fantastic, and hopefully very wearable.
For something new and fun from MAC right now, I highly recommend their lipstick compact to those of you in Nordstrom territory (the compact was created for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale going on now). For $24 you get a handy refillable palette compact filled with some of MAC's best sellers, like taupe, fetish, gel, pivot, twig, rizzo, and clear vitamin E stick. I love the enclosed lip brush, which is of the same quality as all of MAC's brushes, only smaller (not some cheezy throw-away). This compact is great for purse, travel, and mixing your own shades on the go.
FYI - If you are a makeup maven like me but don't have access to MAC where you live, you can still satisfy your craving by ordering products through MAC's mail order line (1-800-387-6707).
Stila is another line that will deliver a gorgeous fall collection. Called the Star Collection, it's romantic and modern, with a light wash of shimmery color for eyes and nails, and deep, rich shades for cheeks and lips. All the colors are grouped as "looks" so application is effortless. (I will have color swatches online for next week.)
Moonlight – moonlight eye shadow (white shimmer), julie lipstick (deep berry), belle blush (bright berry), freya nail polish (white shimmer)
Starlight – starlight eye shadow (cream shimmer), dominique lipstick (deep red), rouge blush (crimson red), juno nail polish (cream shimmer)
Twilight – twilight eye shadow (silver shimmer), ina lipstick (deep plum), warm blush (plum), demeter nail polish (silver shimmer)
Stila is also featuring a new concept for fall called Twin Sets – a dramatic monochromatic look for eyes. Each set comes with a deep eye color to be used as liner and a matching colored mascara. Twin Sets come in cassis (deep plum), jade (deep green), pewter (deep gray), and azur (deep blue).
