Marissa brings fall color to August
My make-up guru friend Christopher Stark from Saks picked out some fall colors for me and let me tell ya, they are yummy! He always seems to know what will look good and have staying power!
Nars has a great fall collection and he was right on the money with his choices. Blade Runner is a great fall eye shadow - reminds me of being outside in October. The two shades are a leafy green with shimmer and a rusty bronze shimmer. While they look dark in the compact, they are actually very sheer and beautiful. Not colors I would pick for myself, but both my sister and I tried them on and loved them. He also picked out a deep plum with a bit of a shimmer in a cream shadow called Swing that I thought right away I would return. But my sister told me to just try it and whew, glad I listened. Great evening shadow! It blended beautifully with the Lancome Artliner in Cranberry, another great fall color that he picked out. Who would have thought cranberry eyeliner would look so good! Then the eyes all came together with Dior DiorShow Mascara in Black 090
. WOW!
Also from Dior, Christopher picked out the limited edition Miss Dior Cherie Palette and the Dior DiorGlam Shimmer Palette. Fran, my sister, said to send the DiorGlam back because the colors were all wrong (and normally on me they would be), but again, Christopher proved us wrong. The colors are supposed to be an eye shadow and face shimmer, but I put them both on my eyes and was impressed how nice they looked. The baby blue and pink colors that shouldn't look great with my skin tone actually did, and they are sheer enough to look great on all complexions. It comes with a little fairy wand brush and is just a fun palette to have.
The Miss Dior Cherie Palette is an all in one makeup case, complete with two eye shadows (a golden wheat and a taupe/brown/green that really looks good on brown eyes), a cream blush in orangey/pink/gold shimmer, a highlighter, a light pinky/peach lip gloss and their new fragrance, Miss Dior Cherie. I LOVE the cream blush and wore it as a lippy and a blush to work. It's a great color that works on both your lips and cheeks. Now, the new fragrance... I had to get used to it. I put WAY too much on and had a headache. It's a one shot to the wrist type of perfume that lasts all day. Sophisticated, not fruity; classic like Chanel #5.
Finally, the lips! I am a lip girl and this fall season has plenty to offer. Nars makes an awesome Lip Lacquer that keeps both the color and the gloss on your lips for hours. Two cups of coffee and it still stayed on. Zou Zou
is a rich rosy/purple/pink with lots of shimmer. My sister liked it so much, she went out the next day and bought one, too! The other color that I like is Chastity
, a light purpley/pink shimmer.
Guerlain has a new lipstick out called KissKiss. The colors are rich and long lasting (but not the yucky long lasting that dries out your lips and flakes off) and the packaging is the best. The tube is three cubes together and it's the cutest darned thing. I bought #548, which is a rich bronze brown, and I topped it with Giorgio Armani Lip Shimmer in #5, which is almost the same rich bronze/brown.
Fall colors are so rich and robust this season. The cranberries and bronzes are just beautiful. I know there's still a month and a half left until the official start of fall, but for me, fall begins with the color collections, so I guess that means spring will start in February. If you could use Christoper's help, tell him I sent you: 617-937-5367.
