Adele is a radio station research executive (and makeup enthusiast!) from Glasgow, Scotland. She's in her mid 30s, has dark brown hair, hazel eyes and sallow/olive skin. Her skin condition varies from being partly sensitive and slightly dry in the winter to combination (normal with oily T-zone) in the spring/summer. The weather there is mostly cold and, on the west coast where Glasgow is situated, often wet - which means Adele's skin is susceptible to dry flaky patches and broken capillaries around the cheek area. In her spare time, Adele has gained a few national certificates for skincare and fashion make-up and loves trying out new products on herself and her friends.

Adrienne is a 41 year old public relations professional from Chicago. A self-proclaimed "make-up junkie" since she was 13, she has a typical Mediterranean look: medium/olive skin, black hair, large brown eyes, and is fast becoming a "normal" skintype after years of oily/combination skin. She comes from a long line of women who have defied the aging process - they all look years younger than they are, because they too were all Divas about their skin care! What's important to her: foundation that lasts all day, concealer that does not need constant re-application, finding eye shadow colors that make brown eyes look warmer, a finishing powder that has staying power. Aina is 28 years old, African American with combination skin that is prone to ocassional breakouts. She lives in the NYC metropolitan area. Aina's favorite products to shop for are lipstick, nail color and moisturizer.

Alissa joins us from sunny Pasadena, California. She is a 29 year old "makeup junkie" who has blonde hair, brown eyes and fair oily skin that is prone to breakouts. Like many women with oily skin, Alissa has a hard time finding foundations and powders that work for her skin without streaking, turning orange, or looking chalky.

Anne lives in the Detroit area, has classic "winter" coloring of dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, and a fair complexion that is combination/oily.

Annie, 53, is a security administrator from the Pacific Northwest. She has medium brown hair, fair skin, and hazel eyes. Annie's combination skin is a little bit blotchy and benefits from concealer. She tends to avoid oil-free products since they often cause her skin to produce even more oil. Annie is constantly on the lookout for the perfect eye cream that will banish the "puffies" and for anti-aging serums and moisturizers to keep fine lines at bay. Because of her contact lenses, Annie hates powder shadows that drift into her eyes or oily eye makeup remover. Annie considers herself a computer geek and shopping fool who loves to combine the two pastimes :)

Bobbi, 54, is a retired healthcare marketing consultant from "bluegrass country," Kentucky. She is the mother of a grown son and daughter and grandmother to an adorable (of course!) one year old grandson. She is an avid golfer, loves to read, and is now traveling more since "retirement". She has long dark brown hair, and a medium olive (oily, sensitive and STILL acne prone) complexion. She has been a cosmetic addict since she was a little girl playing with her mother's makeup. Her favorite day is shopping for new makeup products! She is always reading magazines, shopping at makeup counters and now searching the Internet for the perfect makeup, the ultimate concealer, and the perfect skin care line. As lines begin to appear, her skin care regimen is changing and she is looking more seriously at eye creams, as well as masks and face creams that will refine and protect her skin.

Brita, 45, is a magazine writer living in Chicago whose interest in make-up borders on the obsessive. She has fair coloring, light eyes and brown hair, and normal-to-dry skin. Her interest in aromatherapy and natural cosmetics dates back 15 years.

Chandra is a 28-year-old editor from Long Island, New York. Her prime beauty concern is straightening her curly hair, but she always finds time to try new cosmetics. Chandra's favorite beauty item is lip stains of any form. She is half Italian and half Jewish and has very fair skin, medium brown hair and dark brown eyes. Her skin goes from normal to combination, and her goal is to need foundation or concealer as little as possible.

Clara is a 49 year old marketing professional from Chicago. Clara is African-American with a golden brown skintone (the color of candy caramel) which is oily and prone to acne. Her hair is dark brown with great "natural golden" highlights which is sort of a shaggy bob. Clara loves to dramatically change her hair look and instead of locking into extensions and waiting for cuts to grow out, wigs and falls are frequently incorporated into her hairstyles. She is always on the prowl for haircare items which address the unique needs of African hair textures. She has been fond of cosmetics since she developed her skill making up dolls as a little girl using her mother's makeup. In her free time Clara enjoys spectator sports (especially baseball) both in person and on TV.

Connie, 29, lives in a small suburb about 40 miles outside of Chicago, Illinois. She is Italian and German and has fair to olive colored skin that is oily in the t-zone. Her skin can get extremely dry skin around her mouth and on her lips in the winter. She has blue eyes and long straight dark brown hair. Her hair tends to be dry and is fairly thick. Connie is a self proclaimed bargain hunter, and prides herself on getting cosmetic deals. Connie works in Human Resources, but also has her beautician's license. When it comes to cosmetics there is not a product that she won't try.

Danielle is 29, from Northeastern Florida, and is a professional makeup and hair artist who works in both print and film. She's also a columnist for a fitness magazine, where she answers questions and gives advice on makeup, fashion and hair. Danielle has a light to medium olive complexion with brown eyes and long, light brown naturally curly hair with blonde highlights. She has moderate oil in the T-Zone area and tends to have mild/moderate breakouts. Danielle loves a straight beauty look using color washes but she also loves a glamorous look when the occasion calls for it!

Deanna is 33 years old and half Caucasian, half African American. She has normal to oily skin that tans easily and is prone to mild/moderate acne breakouts. Her skin tone is a warm yellow, similar to Iman's Sand 2. Deanna has dark brown hair with natural auburn highlights and medium brown eyes. She prefers warm, autumnal or burnished shades in makeup. For daytime, she likes a clean, professional appearance, however, for evening she prefers "all-out, va-va-va voom glamour." Deanna lives from Silver Spring, Maryland, and is currently a full-time student studying for a Master's degree in International Business Management. She is also a new mom to a little girl, Cydney. In her late teens and twenties, Deanna worked as a large-sized model and has been a product junkie ever since!

Debbie is 41 years old and lives in sunny San Diego, California. Her skintone is light and she has combination skin, with her cheeks more on the dry side. She has been know to have up to 11 foundations at one time, which makes foundations one of her obsessions and the second is always searching for the perfect non-waterproof mascara that lengthens, adds volume, won't flake, smudge, gives dark pigment and lasts all day - a tall order to fill. She currently owns more makeup than she could possibly use in her lifetime and probably about 50 lipglosses (how can one person own that many?) and still that doesn't stop her from buying more, but it's all in the name of research, right?

Deborah is from Dallas, Texas and has her Cosmetology license. She has always been a cosmetic "junkie", so the license came naturally. Deb also has a love and aptitude for computers. Deb is 47 with oily T-zone skin that has medium to large pores and occasional blemishes. Her hair is chestnut/auburn and her skin burns easily in the sun, which is unusual for fairly oily skin.

Debra is a 38 year old corporate writer from Round Rock, Texas (just north of Austin). She has light brown hair (highlighted), blue eyes, and pinkish fair skin that burns easily and freckles even easier. Her skin is normal to dry in the winter, and normal to oily in the summer. The climate in her area directly affects how she, and all of her friends, must use skin care products - summer starts in May and ends in October. Debra has tried practically every line reviewed on Cosmetic Connection.

Denise is a 28-year old paralegal from Phoenix, Arizona. Denise has long strawberry-blonde hair and blue-green eyes, and a super fair complexion with combination skin. Her skin does not tend to break out very often. Denise is still looking for the "perfect" cleansing regimen, and having fun looking!

Edith is an Irish beauty who works as a journalist in the San Francisco Bay Area. At 34, she's fighting the epic battle to keep time, age, and wind from doing any more damage to her very delicate, fair skin. Though she spent 12 years in theater as a performer and makeup artist, nowadays she wears light makeup because of her sometimes-sensitive skin. She is, however, a cosmetic addict who is always on the lookout for the perfect foundation and color palette to tone down her reddish complexion, green eyes, dark red hair, and dark eyebrows. Edith has combination skin of the extreme variety: very, very dry forehead and cheeks and a blemish-prone chin and nose.

Elaine is a 25-year-old editor from New York City. Like most of us, she has been following the beauty industry since she was about 13 (just old enough to wear makeup), and now she is a self-proclaimed shopaholic, always in search of "the perfect product". Her current want list includes finding an effective blemish zapper, natural-looking self tanners and foundations, the ultimate concealer, anything that regulates the skin's oil production, and great drugstore finds of any kind. Elaine has very fair, combination skin with an oily T-zone, brown hair, and hazel eyes. Her makeup style is natural and pared-down.

Evelyn is a 44 year-old living in Toronto. A self-confessed cosmetics junkie, she loves trying new brands - which has made her wonder if she shouldn't have become a makeup artist way back when. She was in search of the elusive perfect red lipstick for years and thinks she may have found it in Chanel Dragon.

Gayle is a 42 year old "makeup junkie" who lives in central Illinois (2 hours south of Chicago). She has blonde hair, blue-green eyes and a medium complexion with dry skin. Gayle is concerned with fine facial lines, crows feet around the eyes, laugh lines around the mouth and brown facial spots (she uses Renova). Also, the well water in her town wreaks havoc on her color treated hair.>

Geoff is a 31 year old entrepreneur living in Portland, Oregon. He has dark brown hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion with normal skin. Geoff and the concept of "real" skin care are just getting to know each other, so we look forward to reading his perspective on all the new men's lines.

Heather started Cosmetic Connection in 1996 from an idea that women would like to learn more about cosmetics and skin care than just what's on the product package. Heather, 32, lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and their two kids. She has medium brown hair that is lightly highlighted and chin-length with long layers, blue eyes, and a fair, dehydrated complexion with slightly pink/neutral undertones (German and Scottish heritage).

Holly is a 29-year-old optometrist from Dublin, Ohio. She has fair-to-medium skin that is basically dry, though the topical medicine she uses for rosacea can give her an oily shine from time to time. Holly has long, dark brown hair and green eyes. She was diagnosed with rosacea in January 2001 and uses topical Metrocream (by prescription only) for its treatment, which she has responded well to; her skin is now completely smooth (with a lot of major maintenance), but still has some residual redness, so her main cosmetics goal these days is to achieve complete but natural looking coverage! Holly's only absolute beauty product "must have" is Prescriptives Camoflauge Cream - she simply won't be without it.

Jen, 24, is from Philadelphia, PA. She is Chinese-American with black hair and fair skin that is oily/combination. Jen likes everything from nailpolish to eye shadow to good bath products. She collects makeup the way other people might collect stamps or art; she have so much stuff that she bought because she liked how it smells or how it looked. Currently Jen is working in public relations doing mostly technical writing. She also writes reviews for epinions.com in her spare time.

Jennifer is the founder and president of Girl Effex, a company that develops skincare products dedicated to the skin care needs and positive self image of young girls ages 8-14. It is her lifelong passion for the cosmetic industry (and her own daughters' skin care needs) that prompted her to launch her company and become more active in the industry. She believes in a holistic approach to beauty and loves to share her thoughts, opinions and ideas with the readers of Cosmetic Connection. Jennifer is 31 years old and the mother of three daughters. Her skin tone is light olive and typically normal to dry. She loves to try new and upcoming lines and continuously is on the look out for new and innovative products.

Jenny is a 17-year-old high school senior from New Jersey. She is of Filipino and Irish background with fair, combination skin (oily in the t-zone with drier patches) and occasional breakouts. Her hair is dark brown (with highlights) and wavy. Some of Jenny's product favorites include Vincent Longo Water Canvas, Stila Peony Convertible Color, Club Monaco Eye Grease, and Guerlain bronzing powder. She changes colors frequently with her mood, but her favorite look is always very clean and simple.

Joi is a half-Korean, half-Caucasian 28 year old lawyer from San Francisco with medium toned skin that is generally oily but sometimes flaky in patches. Joi has dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, and she can tan easily. Joi likes a professional makeup look that is polished, easy, and doesn't take a lot of effort.

Judith, 57, lives in Washington, DC, where she works part time in the advertising department of a major newspaper, runs an online jewelry business, as well as a major mailing list and web site for art quilters online. A natural blonde until she reached her 40's, her dark blonde hair is cropped short and highlighted. She has brown eyes and sensitive/normal to dry fair skin with yellow undertones. Makeup concerns vary from season to season in Washington, as the weather goes from one extreme to the other. Judith prefers a liquid, cream or gel foundation with sheer to medium coverage and never leaves home without foundation, blush, mascara and lipstick. Her main skin care concerns are fine lines and uneven skin tones and she is always in search of a perfect new product!

Judy hails from Philadelphia, PA where she works as a legal secretary. She has always had an interest in skincare and enjoys experimenting and keeping up with what's new. At 42 years old, Judy's skin type varies from season to season - dry in the winter, combination in the summer. Judy's Italian background has blessed her with dark eyes and hair, and a light olive complexion.

Kanita is from Chicago and is a full time professional makeup artist for the film and print industries. So far, she has worked on one full length film, several commercials, and most recently, the Ambercrombie & Fitch Summer Quarterly. Kanita also works freelance around Chicago, Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. Kanita is half black Panamanian and half African American, so she has understands the challenges and concerns that both Latina and African American women face when it comes to cosmetics and skin care. Kanita has normal skin - lucky her! - that she describes as "mahogany" in color.

Kiki is 30 years old and has fair skin that tans easily, is very oily, and prone to occasional break outs. She lives in Manhattan Beach, CA and works as a film animator for Sony Pictures on feature films. Kiki has been researching and testing skin care products, dermatology techniques, acne prescriptions, and facialists since she was 13 years old. Oil and blemish control are among her favorite priorities, but she is also a consumer addict (and enjoying every second) who regularly tries new products from all kinds of product lines. Her review of Hollywood based facialist Steven Miller and his products includes some little known or hard to find skin care products that she considers to be of the highest quality and performance.

Krishna is 42 years old, African-American (Peruvian Indian, American Indian, Black, and Creole), and the mother of five children. She lives in Los Angeles, but is a New York transplant. Her skin is sort of honey brown (a yellow/orange color type by Prescriptives) and combination, with an oily T-zone is the summer. Krishna's hair is naturally wavy and black, and she wears it just past her shoulders. Her eyes are dark brown. Krishna is always looking for good skin care, and makeup lines that cater to darker skin tones.

Kristen is a 26 year-old government employee and mother of one from a Texas town just east of Houston. Kristen frequently makes trips to Houston for cosmetics and skincare and the people at the Laura Mercier counter and the Sephora store know her by name. In fact, she named every color on one of the makeup artist's face and she offered Kristen a job working for Laura Mercier! She has combination skin that is exacerbated in the summer (due to the extreme humidity in Texas) and normal to dry in the winter. She is acne prone with redness around the nose and chin and a handful of red acne scars, which she is always looking for something to even those out. Until then she has settled into finding the perfect foundation/concealer/powder system to cover it. Kristen has large, almond-shaped blue/green eyes that she considers to be her best feature. She is a natural brunette but highlights so it's blonde and "Julia Robert's curly" that she straightens.

Linda, 33, is an executive assistant at a PR agency in New York City and a single mother of a 2 year old son. Her mother warned her at 12 that once she started using makeup, she would never be able to stop, and she was right! Linda has been hooked ever since. This "cosmetic junkie" says she actually "gets a high" when trying new products. Her dream is to someday become a regular client of renowned makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin. Linda is Hispanic and has a fair-to-medium complexion with yellow undertones which tends to burn, then tan. She has normal-to-dry skin with a slightly oily t-zone area. Her eyes are dark brown and has light brown, curly, short hair which she prefers to wear straight. This is especially difficult for her during the warm, humid months. Her main beauty concern is dark circles around the eyes. Right now, her concealer of choice is Prescriptives camouflage cream.

Lindsey, 28, a self-professed makeup junkie, is an Internet Product Merchandiser for a retail catalog company in downtown Chicago. She is having a "change of skin" suddenly after 20 years of having VERY oily skin. A one-time connoisseur of oily skin products, she is finding it hard to make the change to combination skin products. (Yet at the same time it's a great excuse to buy new products.) She has blue eyes, medium skin and light brown/blonde (oily, of course) hair. Lindsey likes to read, shop (online), sails during the summer and scuba dives in the winter (in the Caribbean, not Chicago).

Lisa is in her early thirties, and hails from from Columbus, OH. She has very fair skin that tends to be "combination," with unexpected rages of sensitivity. Lisa's heritage is rather mixed - mostly Hungarian, with some Scottish and French mixed in with a dash of Native American. Her very fair skin tans like nobody's business, and produces a myriad of freckles, so she always wears plenty of sunscreen (Peter Thomas Roth Ultra-lite spf 30). Lisa has golden-green eyes, and mop-thick brown hair, which she keeps under control with Terax Conditioner. Lisa's main beauty concerns are puffy, sensitive, "circled" eyes, (which she remedies with Creme de La Mer applied at night, and Avon Lighten Up Plus in the daytime) and keeping her sensitive skin calm and clear.

Maria is a 30 year old freelance editor and writer, and "total cosmetics nut" with several years experience working for a major department store line as well as a cosmetic researcher. Maria is part Austrian/German, African American, and Native American, with wavy, dark brown hair with reddish-golden highlights, dark brown eyes, and a medium to olive skin tone (the foundation and powder shades she uses are normally toward the lighter end of the spectrum). Her skin is very oily and prone to breakouts, but she keeps it pretty clear with regular use of a BHA product and 5% benzoyl peroxide. Maria's favorite beauty products include Huggies Baby Wipes to remove makeup (strange, but very effective!), Clinique Clarifying Lotion #2 and Exfoliating Scrub, SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel, Revlon ColorStay Compact Makeup, Lorac Oil-Free Foundation, Jane Loose Powder, Lancome Concealer and Oil-Free Blush, Bobbi Brown lipsticks, Wet 'n Wild lip glosses, Ombrelle Sunscreens, and Paula's Choice 1% BHA Lotion.

Marissa is a 40 years old, Italian/Polish, with dark brown hair (virgin color) that's now a great shade of red (Garnier), with dark brown eyes and olive skin. She has normal to slightly dry skin, with a touch of redness in the cheeks. She loves the DDF skincare line, and just discovered Avon all over again. Her latest purchase was Clarins Radiance Plus Self-Tanning Cream. Marissa has been and always will be a make-up junkie... loves foundations and lipsticks, and now is on a quest for the perfect bronzer.

Melinda is an American from Philadelphia transplanted in the U.K. When she isn't following newsgroups like "alt.british.tv.comedy" and "rec.arts.tv.uk", Melinda is a product junkie like the rest of us! Melinda has a fair complexion and curly blonde hair.

Melissa is a 30-year-old California native living in exile in southern Virginia. She has exceptionally sensitive fair skin and reddish-brown hair. She spent many summers as a teenager pursuing the ultimate California tan... lots of sunburn and plenty of damage later. She has decided to love her pale skin. She is a make-up fanatic who has spent years working in various parts of the beauty industry. She has worked behind the counter, as a promotional artist and an account coordinator for some of the most well known cosmetic lines. She has also had the opportunity to try thousands of other products and learn from other cosmetic professionals.

Michelle is a professional make-up artist/internet beauty consultant for the film, print, TV and stage industries. She switched careers from Corporate Public Affairs to Make-up Artistry just three years ago and hopes to combine her experience in a new venture. Some of her projects have included films, music videos, informercials, print ads, and fashion shows. She recently moved from the Washington, DC area to the San Francisco Bay area. Besides working in those two regions, Michelle works in the LA area where she also studied special effects make-up. She has worked for both Stila and MAC, but of course, is a self-proclaimed product junkie and is familiar with many lines. She has a fair complexion, blond hair and green eyes, with sensitive skin on the drier side.

Mimi is a 26 year old budding actress who works days as an assistant in a technology publishing firm. Her experience in cosmetics comes from her years as a Drama major at Vassar College where she did hair and make-up for every mainstage theatrical show. Mimi has dark blonde hair (normal), blue eyes (sensitive), and very pale skin which runs the gamut from oily to dry depending on the weather.

Monique is a professional make-up artist in Los Angeles, California. Her background includes print, film, television, videos, recording artists and celebrities, and special events. She also has a journalism degree from Pepperdine University.

Nava is 34 years old and lives in East Meadow, New York (on Long Island). She has fair, oily/combination skin and blonde hair. Nava did a five month course of Accutane 3 years ago, so she doesn't break out (with the exception of an occasional small pimple or cluster of whiteheads) much anymore, but is still battling overactive oil glands. Nava always says she's on a constant search for hope in a jar! Nava's two greatest concerns are keeping her oily skin in check and warding off those wrinkles that she knows are forming as she gets older. For Nava, taking care of her skin is practically a full time job!

Pam is a self-proclaimed cosmetic junkie who will not rest until she finds the perfect skin care routine! Pam has very sensitive skin that often changes from dry to oily and back again. Pam has a fair complexion and likes to wear warm colors.

Patty is a 24-year-old college counselor living in the San Francisco Bay area. Originally from Israel, she moved to California at the age of nine, and has been a sunscreen advocate ever since. Patty has an extremely fair, cool complexion (as pale as you can picture and then some), oily to combination skin (depending on the season), strawberry-blonde curly hair, and green eyes. Until very recently her main goal while shopping for cosmetics was to find that "perfect" shade of lipstick. Now that she has found it (Prescriptives "Mystery"), Patty is intent on finding a product that will de-frizz her curly hair and still feel natural. Of course, she always keeps an eye out for a really good foundation as well!

Radhika is a 28 year old Business Analyst who works for a dot com in Cleveland, OH. She is Asian Indian, with long black hair that is generally straight. She has dark skin, which is oily no matter how cold it gets in Cleveland, and is prone to breakouts. When it comes to makeup, Radhika is on a constant search for the latest and greatest, and prefers colors and palettes that accentuate rather than stand out. Radhika is passionate about makeup, fashion and anything that has to do with style. Her friends and family have made her the "official" stylist, personal shopper and makeup artist for every wedding and major event. Aside from her professional career, Radhika is an Indian classical dancer with over 20 years of training and performances, designs Indian ethnic apparel, and is the ultimate shopper.

Sage joins the product panel from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she is a broadcast journalism student. When Sage isn't "on the air", she likes a natural makeup look that compliments her medium-colored Indian skin. She has normal-to-dry skin, brown hair, and brown eyes.

Sandi is 47, married, and lives in Davis, CA. Her skin is fair, reddish because of using Retin-A in the very early 80's, rather oily and sensitive, and tends to break out once every so often (especially from products that are too rich). Sandi is always on the lookout for moisturizers for oily skin. Besides make-up, Sandi is a self-proclaimed bath product and lotion addict.

Sondra, 27, lives in Washington, D.C., and loves basketball and music. Sondra has a mahogany (i.e., Toni Braxton/Diana Ross) African American complexion that is normal to oily (more oily in the summer). Her hair and eyes are both Dark Brown.

Tamar is a 30-something attorney in Baltimore with extensive experience in show business and pageant arenas. She's pretty sure that her natural hair color would be a medium ash brown, since she has been every shade of bottle blonde on the market for about 20 years. Tamar has blue green eyes and fair skin that was damaged in a fire several years ago. Baltimore has a humid climate though, so it's hard to wear heavy moisturizers or sun blocks and not break out. Also, she wonders when the cosmetic companies will "get it" that tans are brown with a pinkish undertone, not "golden" - there is not a fake tanner on the market that looks right in photos. (Sorry all of you brides, pageant girls and Paris Hilton.) In her funky arts neighborhood, she can wear lots of makeup or none, but she has to tone it down for both the professionalism and harsh lighting of court.

Tina is a 27 year old Korean-Italian professional living in Boston. She has thick, black hair that's extremely processed, black eyes, and medium olive skin with yellow undertones that tans easily. Her skin is normal/combination (oily T-zone with occasional dryness in the cheek area). Tina has never had acne, and rarely gets pimples, but she can have allergic reactions due to extremely sensitive skin.

Tracey, 40, is a native Virginian with blond hair, green eyes, and a fair to medium complexion. Tracey enjoys genealogy, travel, raising Cockatiels, and, of course, cosmetics!

Vera is a 28 year old American-Filipino from Oakland, California (she has lived in the Bay Area for most of her life). Vera has combination skin that can be oily at times, but also prone to surface dryness/flakiness (especially in office environments). She has brunette/black hair, dark brown eyes, and a medium complexion that tans easily. She has worked in the high tech/support field for about eight years.

Vicky is a 38 year old office manager who has always loved makeup and skincare products. She lives in Scottsdale, Arizona where the dry climate and high summer temperatures make taking care of your skin and melt-proofing your makeup a challenge! Her hair is fine, highlighted, on the dry side, and Vicky regularly straightens it with a ceramic flat iron.
