Lancome's Spring Colour Collection, Candide, features a palette of "near-nudes, airy pastels, and makeup sheers". The collection includes several limited-edition items: Blush Duo in Nude, Rose Innocence, and Rose Pur; Ombre Trio Multiple Texture EyeColour in Oxygene (pinks), Air (light blue), Eau (light green), and Nude; L'Ombre Stylo-Duo EyePowder Pen in the same shades; Rouge Absolu Long Lasting LipColour in Nude 1, Nude 2, and Nude 3 (progressively darker shades of nude); and Rouge Idole in Rose Innocence (dusky rose) and Rose Pur (bright pink). Laura Mercier claims that the spring face should be "feminine and pretty, with sheer mauves and peaches on eyes, cheeks, and lips." Her Watercolours collection fits the bill. It includes Eye Colours in Cloud, Mauve, and Sandstone (all shimmery pastels), and Lip Colours in Coral, Pink Dawn, and Amethyst. Order at 1-888-MERCIER. Vincent Longo is encouraging a colorful and romantic look this season. L'Oreal makes a huge splash this season with the Spring Elements Collection. This color story quite literally has something for everyone. The collection is divided into four "elements": Air, Fire, Earth, and Water. The Air collection features soft pastels. It includes: Lipcolour in Dreamy (lavender), Aerial (soft pink), and Whisper (peach-nude); Soft Effects Single Eye Shadows in Effervescent (violet), Pink Breeze (soft pink), and Sky Blue; Quick Stick Face and Body Blush in Pink Pearle; and On-The-Loose Face and Body Powder in Angelic (pinky-nude). The Fire collection features warm, bold brights. It includes: Lipcolour in Electric Pink (hot pink), Red Hot (bright red), and Volcanic (bright orange); Soft Effects Single Eye Shadows in Dynamite (orange), Hot Pink, and Steamy (bright yellow); Quick Stick Face and Body Blush in Ripe Plum; and On-The-Loose Face and Body Powder in Simmer (plummy). The Earth collection features neutral browns. It includes: Lipcolour in Taupestone (medium brown shimmer), Minerale (tan shimmer), and Mahogany (deep brown); Soft Effects Single Eye Shadows in Metallico (gold), Forest Green (olive), and Earthen (warm brown); Quick Stick Face and Body Blush in Copper Gleam; and On-The-Loose Face and Body Powder in Amber Glow (warm gold). The Water collection features cool blues. It includes: Lipcolour in Purple Splash (true violet), Blue Wave (medium blue), and Mist (light green-blue); Soft Effects Single Eye Shadows in Neptune (pale blue), Deep Ocean (violet), and Azure (pale blue-green); Quick Stick Face and Body Blush in Iced Plum; and On-The-Loose Face and Body Powder in Mist (cool pink). MAC's theme for spring is Pure, and the collection includes beautiful pale color washes. New items include Cream Colours in Kool (a pale, muted lavender/mauve frost with a white/violet pearl), Luna (pale, cool frosted white), Tint (soft, muted mocha with a pale, golden pearl), and Hush (a pale, peach frost); Lipsticks in Kool (lavender), Hue (sheer pink), Hush (sheer peach), Gliss (golden peach glaze), Isis (taupe glaze), and Ozone (silver-white glaze); Eyeshadows in Krisp (frosty, cool white) and Hush (peach frost); and Nail Colour in Kool, Gloss, Hush, and Ozone (descriptions above). MAC has also introduced new foundation shades that follow a whole new color scheme. MAC may be ordered at 1-800-7-BEAUTY. Maybelline has a series of new, cutting-edge products this spring. True Illusion Pressed Powder, an ultra-fine, skin-enhancing powder with a natural veil of color is now available in seven shades. Maybelline has also just released Hydra Time Lipcolor, an extended wear, moisturizing lipcolor in thirty shades. In May, the company's much-anticipated Express Makeup 3 in 1 will hit the stores. This stick foundation, concealer, and powder in one will be oil-free, lightweight, and will come in twelve natural shades. Finally, in June, Maybelline will add a Waterproof Wonder Curl Mascara to its already extensive mascara collection. Maybelline also launches their spring color story, Into The Light, this season. The collection includes a variety of shimmery pastel shades perfect for spring. NARS features a unique look for spring. According to the company, the formula for Spring 99 is "the delicate grace of Audrey Hepburn mixed with a bit of Twiggy and modernized with fresh skin." The company features four new products to help you create this eclectic statement: Ashes to Ashes Single Eyeshadow (a shimmer ash brown with a hint of plum); Orgasm Blush (a sheer, guilded, baby pink); Galaxy Girl Lipstick (a transparent, gilded, baby pink); and Boccacio Nail Polish (also a gilded, baby pink). Philosophy does not have a new color story for spring, but according to the company, the look of rosy cheeks and tinted lips will continue to be popular this season. They recommend The Supernaturals for achieving this innocent look. This mini-kit includes a cherry-red liquid tint that can be used on lips or cheeks plus a lip lacquer to seal the color to the lips. Prescriptives keeps things simple this spring with their latest color story Simply. Stila will also introduce Convertible Color, a new cheek/lip color product, in April. Yves Saint Laurent is featuring a nice variety of new products and colors for spring. For starters, the company introduces a collection of powder creme pencils in Crystal White, Yellow Light, Celestial Blue, Porcelain Pink, Almond Green, and Quiet Violet. The Poudre Creme pencils are for use anywhere on the face. Also new this season, Premier Teint/Radiant Primer (liquid primers to be used before or instead of foundation) in Banana Flambe (adds radiance) and Brown Copper (creates a sun-kissed effect); and Blush Variation (a dual-textured blush with both matte and iridescent color) in Pink Amber, Coriander, and Heather Pink.
