Big news! The Cosmetic Report has moved to Tuesdays! You can still expect the same great reviews and tips every week, now on Tuesday instead of Friday. In this week's issue, I thought I'd share a few cosmetic finds I've discovered over the last few weeks that have made my life better or easier. The first is Pond's Cleansing and Make-up Remover Towelettes ($6 for a box of 30) - extremely handy if you hate fussing with complicated skin care every night before bed, or if you just have a hectic schedule and need a quick makeup remover and cleanser in one. These handy towelettes are large like a washcloth and work great to remove all your makeup and leave your skin feeling clean, not oily or filmy. I use them several times a week at night, then follow up with my regular moisturizer. Definitely worth checking out! As if winter weather wasn't harsh enough on my skin, now that I'm handling my baby all day long, I'm constantly washing, and further drying, my hands. My dermatologist recommended I try Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream, and I have to say it's fantastic. Just a tiny dab instantly smooths and protects my skin, and it doesn't feel heavy or greasy like most dry skin moisturizers. I chose the unscented version and have been using it faithfully every time I wash my hands. For dry skin, I really recommend this one. I don't get out as quite as often as I used to, but when I do run to the store or take the baby for a walk, I like to look my best. I spotted Almay's new Skin Stays Clean foundation (around $11) at the drugstore and decided to try it for evening out my splotchy complexion and hiding those post-pregnancy blemishes. The lightweight oil-free formula covers surprisingly well without looking heavy or fake, and you can build the sheer-to-medium coverage by layering if you need to on problem areas. This foundation does contain salicylic acid, which works to keep pores clear but can irritate sensitive areas of the face like the eye area. I usually use my foundation as an undereye concealer and eye shadow base, but not this one - it made my eye lids sting. Aside from that, I've been pleased with its coverage and lightweight feel.
