THE COSMETIC REPORT
June 16, 2000

This week our Panelist Nava shares her recent experience with the exclusive skin care line Epicuren Discovery.

Nava is 32 years old and lives in East Meadow, New York (on Long Island). She has fair, oily/combination skin and blonde hair. Nava did a five month course of Accutane last 2 years, so she doesn't break out much anymore, but is still battling overactive oil glands. Nava always says she's on a constant search for hope in a jar! Her two greatest concerns are keeping her oily skin in check and warding off those wrinkles that she knows are forming as she gets older. For Nava, taking care of her skin is practically a full time job!

Take it away, Nava!

I started using Epicuren Discovery Skin Care products last February. I'd been wanting to try them ever since I saw the same InStyle mention as Heather and after reading Heather's review. The line is a bit tough to find, but once you try it - you're hooked!

Since Epicuren can be quite pricey, I decided to really put the products to the test before reviewing them. Well, after three months of using them exclusively, I can say with confidence - they are the real deal! If you're skin is showing the first signs of aging or sun damage, consider this line. You'll turn into a believer, just like I did!

In addition to reducing the signs of aging, the combination of products I've been using managed to decrease my oil production as well. Can't beat that with a stick now, can you? Less wrinkles AND less oil? Somebody pinch me, please!

Here's what I've been using:

Gelle Cleanser ($49.00 for a 16 oz. bottle)
This is a blue foaming cleanser recommended for oily/problem skin that does a thorough job removing dirt and makeup without stripping. The fresh apricot scent makes it a pleasure to use.

Facial Scrub ($58.00 for an 8 oz. jar)
This scrub feels very abrasive, but it will not irritate delicate or blemish prone skin. The combination of the Gelle Cleanser and this scrub leaves your skin smooth, clean and well prepared for the treatment to follow.

Citrus Herbal Extra Fine Cleansing Scrub ($37.00 for a 4 oz. jar)
I like to keep this product in the shower and use it every morning. It conveniently couples the cleansing & scrubbing steps. I'm sure I'm not alone in racing the clock in the AM!

Protein Spray Mister ($20.00 for a 4 oz. bottle)
This is an alternative "toner" to the Enzyme Conditioner Heather used in her routine. It comes packaged in a spray bottle, so you just mist it over your face and neck. It also can be used to refresh your skin throughout the day and to reactivate the Epicuren enzyme proteins on your skin from previous treatment applications.

Enzyme Concentrate ($86.00 for a 2 oz. bottle)
As Heather mentioned in her review, this is the heart of the Epicuren system. This is a live enzyme treatment that will nourish and revitalize skin cells. Enzyme Concentrate is the most effective Epicuren product used to diminish the appearance of wrinkles.

Ultra Rose Treat Moisturizer ($42.00 for a 2 oz. bottle)
When I first began using Epicuren, my skin was dry from the cold February weather. Although this product is meant for drier skins, it worked well for me, keeping my skin hydrated, but never greasy. Since the weather has gotten warmer, I've been using this moisturizer around my eyes, in place of eye cream.

Epicuren Emulsion ($26.00 for a 2 oz. bottle)
This is Epicuren's basic light moisturizer. I've been using this for the past month, since my skin is not as dry as it was during the winter. As with the Ultra Rose treat, my skin is soft and moist, but not greasy. Emulsion also makes a great makeup base.
