L'Oreal Age Perfect Pro Calcium

Standing in the skin care aisle at Target a few months ago, I was surprised to see that L'Oreal had come out with a new product in their Age Perfect range which was intended for those 60 or over! How unique, I thought!

Who would think that a skin care line would be targeted to 60 year olds! Then a light bulb went off - this is a product intended for ME! As those of us who are older baby boomers grow older, the marketplace is changing with us!

Of course, I had to try it! L'Oreal Age Perfect Pro-Calcium Day Cream for Very Mature Skin ($24.99) comes in lightly scented and fragrance-free versions, both targeted to those over 60. With a SPF of 15, the product has been recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective UV sunscreen.

Claiming that that calcium deficiencies which occur in aging are harmful to the skin, making skin fragile and less elastic, the calcium contained in this cream is supposed to counter these signs of aging and act as a natural sunscreen.

I've been a true fan of L'Oreal Dermo-Expertise Age Perfect Day and Night Creams for Mature Skin ($15.99) since they were introduced a couple of years ago. The night cream, in particular, is part of my regular winter nightime ritual. It's a firm cream which doesn't leave me feeling greasy in the morning.

Perfect to wear under makeup, I've tried both the scented and unscented versions of the new Pro-Calcium day cream, and I found it to be very thick and firm cream, making it perfect to use under makeup. I like a light scent and L'Oreal is good about not overpowering their products with scent! (Thus far, they have released a night-time version in this range of products.)

I was on the fence about this product when I first tried it last summer, but after regular use when the weather wasn't so warm, I love it!

In addition, L'Oreal has introducted Dermo-Expertise Age Perfect Anti-Sagging & Ultra-Hydrating Cream for Eye and Lip ($24.99). I'm often hesitant about using eye cream during the day, but this one is great! Completely non-greasy, it almost feels dry going on, but leaves your eye area moisturized and smooth, ready to be a smooth canvas for your makeup or worn alone! This one is a winner!

Also, newly introduced by L'Oreal is a great foundation for older skin. L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Hydrating Makeup for Mature Skin ($16.49) has a water-in-silicone formula that gives medium coverage. It comes in a jar with its own foundation brush, which works wonders at smoothing the foundation in place and layering it as heavy or light as you like. There are many color choices available in warm, cool and neutral tones. I found that the warm colors that I am used to using are too warm in this group, so I went for the neutrals. The display in the drugstore contains a translucent color wheel to help you choose your shade. Unless you have a mirror at hand, it's kind of hard to use. I finally ended up trying Natural Buff 706 and Creamy Natural 707, both of which blend right into my skin. If you're looking for a cream foundation that won't break the bank and that allows you to adjust the coverage while softening lines and signs of aging, this foundation is definitely worth another look!
