Marissa's Pick of the Week

I can change your life in under 2 minutes. Seriously! I've discovered two products that create miracles without you ever having to leave your own bathroom. Kate In A Jar, by Kate Somerville, will make your skin glow in under a minute. You put the mask on and take it off after 30 seconds. Hands down - that's all you leave it on for. And don't be like me thinking that if 30 seconds is good, then 2 minutes would be even better, because it won't be! My skin was itchy all day when I left it on too long. Do it correctly and you will feel the mask tingling. When you wipe that green goop off in 30 seconds, your skin is glowing. GLOWING! I heard about, read about it, so of course, I needed to try it. I did the mask today at 6:30am, and got compliments at work this morning for my makeup. It's not the makeup - I'm not even wearing foundation today - it's Kate In A Jar.

The second product that will change your life is for your hair. This time of year, with the weather changing, my hair becomes dull and lifeless. Bring on the Bumble and bumble Bb. Shine Spray. My hair goes from dull to TV star shiny in 10 seconds or less. There is a slight smell to this shine spray (and you know how I have a thing for smells...) but I hold my nose because I've never had a product that worked so well and left my hair shiny for the whole day.

Two minutes to a new you, guaranteed!

Marissa's Pick of the Week

I am always on the prowl for a lipstick/stain that will look like my lips only a little bit richer. Every time I think I've found one, it becomes too red, too berry, too brown when I go outside. However, I think I found the perfect lip color for me. The movie, The Women, is filming here in Boston and Julie Hewitt is the makeup artist on the set. When they were filming a scene in Saks, they set up a movie display and put her products on the counter (Saks does not carry this line) That got me thinking about my own Julie Hewitt products and the store in Concord, MA that sells the line, Hidden Beauty. So, off I go to Hidden Beauty and I walk away with Sin Noir, one of Julie's signature lipsticks. I know I may have said this in the past, but indoors and outdoors, it is truly my lips only better! One quick note - you can't use it straight out of the tube or it will be a deep mess. Use a lip brush, blot and it's a gorgeous stain that makes your lips pop. Movie star quality for everyday use.

Julie Hewitt's website is juliehewitt.net.

Itty Bitty: Palette Obsession

Sometimes we have just a little something to share, and the Itty Bitty is born.

We are completely in love with the new Collection Essentielle de Chanel Multi-Use Makeup Palette ($85)! Each of the two color combinations is a perfect selection of Chanel's best-selling and exclusive shades, including four eye shadows, two lipsticks, two lip glosses, and one blush. We have Soleil Lumiere, which has warm, shimmery bronze shades (usually not us, but oh-so gorgeous in this palette), and we are seriously coveting Soleil Naturel, all soft pink and neutral tones.

Next time, new and exotic scented coconut oils...

Marissa's Pick of the Week

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I thought I would share with you a quick story. This past August, I participated in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day - 60 miles walked over the course of three days. And let me tell you, those three days were the hottest on record for the Boston area. At one of the pit stops, the signs told us that the weather conditions were hazardous because it was so hot. And that of course meant we all looked just awful! All except my friend Lisa who looked great. Her eye makeup didn't smudge, smear or fade. So, being jealous because I looked like Rocky Raccoon, I asked her what she used, and she said Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Stay Put Liner that she bought at Sephora. We were sweating and pouring water over our heads just to stay cool, and not once did she get that tell-tale eyeliner eye. Not even after 8 hours! I am not exaggerating. It really does what it says - it stays put.

You can check out Make Up For Ever at Sephora and make sure you also check out the beauty companies that are giving back to breast cancer research. Lots of great pink products to purchase and help fight breast cancer!

Something new: the Itty Bitty

Sometimes we have just a little something to share, so the Itty Bitty is born.

How much do we love this I Want Candy shirt! And who could resist our littlest Cosmetic Connection fashionista? This is a great shirt from Havins Originals, part of a collection of super-soft kids clothes that have a vintage look and feel. Only the best for our littlest tester!

Next time, a peek into our latest palette obsession...

Marissa’s Pick of the Week

In my quest to keep my tan alive in the fall, I found two products that really do the job. For my face, I'm using Chanel Perfect Colour Face Self-Tanner SPF 8 in Bronze. I put this on my face and neck every three days, and it keeps my current color alive and healthy. The best part is that the lotion smells nice, not the self tan yuck that other products have. (And you all know what I mean when I say a lot of self tanners smell!) For my arms and legs, I use Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion in Medium Skin Tones. Not only does it enhance the tan I already have, but it keeps me moisturized all day, and it doesn't smell either! I was asked not once, but twice in the last week if I went away some place warm for the weekend! These are self- tanners that deliver!
