Marissa's Pick of the Week

It really is the most wonderful time of the year. The holiday color selections are just gorgeous! My pick of the week is from Merle Norman's holiday collection. I tried on, and immediately bought, the Hydrocurrant Satin Lip Pencil and the Screen Siren Vinyl Lipcolor. The Lip Satin pencil is a liner on one side and a lipstick on the other. If you like a dark plum liner and a grape lipstick, this is the perfect one-two punch for you. The two together give you a creamy matte finish, so top it with a dab of the Screen Siren and you will be ready for a great night out. Screen Siren is a color that you can wear alone (a nice plumy color with sparkles) or on top of other lipsticks for a more glam effect.

On top of having great colors for the holidays, if you buy two products, there is a GWP! Check with your local Merle Norman stores to see if they participate. Happy Shopping!

Mom's Emergency Car Kit

Forget flashlights, batteries and plastic rain ponchos. We are talking about real life Mom emergencies: unruly hair, blotchy skin, and spit-up stained tee shirts! If we had a nickel for every time we left the house wearing a completely embarrassing outfit, ponytail hair for the third day in a row... you know what we mean. We finally decided enough was enough and put together this Mom's Emergency Car Kit.

CleanWell Natural Hand Sanitizing Wipes ($11.99 for box of 20)
Kids in tow or not, we are always needing to clean something off of someone, and these wipes are such a nice alternative to Purell or baby wipes. Each huge towelette is infused with germ-killing thyme oil, which has a nice earthly smell, and no alcohol or scary chemicals.

io Herbal Alchemy Lip Butter in Peppermint ($9)
This is the best lip balm ever, anywhere, hands down. No kidding. It's natural, plant based, with no mineral oil. We love the over-sized tube!

Ojon Tawaka Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Cream (part of a discovery kit $39)
This kit has a 2.5oz size tube of this delectable cream, perfect for the car, and great for hair, face, and hands. It smells amazing, like chocolate, and whips dry skin into shape instantly.

Stila Long Wearing Lip Color in Paramour
We don't wear lipstick as much as we should (it really makes us feel pulled together, even if we've just rolled out of bed), but this new lipstick is going to change all that. Stila Long Wearing Lip Color is so easy to just swipe on, and it lasts and lasts without a second thought. The Paramour shade is perfect for our pale, cool complexion - just a hint deeper than our naturally rosy lip color.

Dr. Hauschka Deodorant Fresh
Let's face it, there are times when we need to freshen up and a shower or change of clothes is just not possible. Thank goodness for Dr. Hauschka Deodorant Fresh. A few swipes after Stroller Strides or pilates and we are ready for running errands, a coffee playdate, or whatever the day throws at us.

Lucy Soy Jersey Long-Sleeve Hoodie
We can't count how many times this hoodie has saved us when we were out and about. We love its earth-friendly fabric blend (soy/cotton with a touch of spandex) and the fit is fabulous over a tank, a cami, a tissue tee, an exercise top - pretty much anything. It makes a great extra layer for cold days, an excellent spare shirt in case of spit-up or spill emergencies, and a great cover-up after working out. With nine colors to choose from, the toughest part was not going crazy and getting one of each. If you happen to buy online and can't try it on, just know that the hoodie has a rather slim fit, so you may enjoy a size larger than your usual if you plan to wear it over other tops.

Happy travels!

Marissa's Pick of the Week

It's official: the holiday season has begun! And that means great things are happening at the cosmetic counters! This is my favorite time of year, because the gifts that the cosmetic companies come up with you can give out all year long! Hands down, the pick of the week is at the MAC counter! This is an annual stop for me!

This year, I'll start with the awesome Holiday Cards and the cool Viva Glamorous: 3 Warm Lips (where proceeds go to fight HIV/Aids). Then, I'll add in the Royal Assets: 3 Red Lips and the Royal Assets: 6 Warm Eyes, and Curiousitease: 5 Softsparkle Eye Pencils. As always the MAC colors are vibrant, but it's the holiday packaging that takes center stage. It's luscious, elegant and rich looking, and just begs to be brought out of your purse and used in front of all your friends! This holiday season when you shop at MAC, not only do you get something nice for yourself, but when you purchase the cards, wrapping paper or the Viva Glam collection, you are doing something nice for others, too. And isn't that truly what the holiday spirit is all about? Happy start of the holidays and happy shopping!
