Chickster ($28) The garter, which is "one thigh fits all" thanks to bra snap closures, is black satin with ivory stitching and has a little black lace pouch attached. Inside is the company's new solid scent, Maybe Baby, from the Bathina line, in a shiny black plastic case. BeneFit suggests storing your lipstick, credit card, and key in the pouch for a carefree evening out, and all that and a bit more does indeed fit inside without so much as a bulge under an evening dress. However, none but the tiniest of cell phones will fit, but as the Chickster is a bombshell product if ever there was one, there shouldn't be any lack of admirers or entourage willing to hold onto yours for you. I was very surprised at the scent itself as it is the same white blossom-based mix used in the Bathina collection yet it took on a different life in its new form. Instead it smelled almost exactly like Antonia's Flowers Floret, a sweet floral fragrance that I love to pieces but stopped wearing because it was unstable and would change drastically depending on the temperature of the environment in which it was stored. So needless to say I was thrilled at the thought of the same sort of scent in a solid, non-spill, travel-friendly version. The only catch: Bathina fades very quickly. Not long after applying it I couldn't smell it, and only caught a whiff or two throughout the day. I had several friends test it to make sure it was not just me and they found the same thing to be true. Nevertheless, the combination of BeneFit's typically irresistible packaging and the memory of my beloved Floret make it a product I would buy again. Call me sentimental, but isn't that what the '40s were all about?
