The Body Shop Vitamin C Skincare report by Jen of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
Protective Daywear Moisturizer SPF 15 ($12)
I have combination skin that becomes quite sensitive whenever the seasons change. I've always been on a quest to find a moisturizer that won't cause me to breakout, has an SPF of 15, and will still get rid of my dry
patches. I think I've struck gold with this moisturizer! It is easily
absorbed, leaving my skin with a hydrated but not greasy feeling
and smells delicious--like orange sherbet. The consistency falls
somewhere in between a cream and a lotion--not as thick as a cream,
but more concentrated than a lotion. In the two weeks that I've
been using this, my skin has become smoother and the Vitamin C in
the lotion has helped my blotchy skin tone to even out. The sales
associate at The Body Shop pointed out to me that the consistency
of the moisturizer will probably appeal to all skin types--for oily
skin, a little dab goes a long way, but if you are on the dry side,
be more generous with the amount you use, and you'll get full hydrating
benefits. Bottom line: this is a great moisturizer that delivers sun
protection, the benefits of Vitamin C, smells great, and won't break any
piggy banks.
Vitamin C Stimulating Mask ($15)
This mask claims to "tighten up and radiate." My skin is blotchy and patchy in areas and was looking a bit ashy when I started to test drive this product. I had hoped that this circulation-boosting mask would help even everything out and give me a nice glow, but it was a bit too harsh for my skin. The mask has the consistency of orange yogurt (looked and smelled like it, too) which you apply to your damp face and leave on for 5-10 minutes. On my first try, my skin began to feel itchy and tingly, but in an uncomfortable way, so I quickly washed it off. No visible results. After three days, I gave the mask another try, and left it on for a full 7 minutes. Still, my face looked pretty much the same, but it felt very clean. I tried the mask 3 more times over the course of two weeks, and didn't see any visible results. It left my skin feeling like I washed my face, and that's about it. There were no other side effects, positive or negative. I think I'll be returning this mask pretty soon.
