Chanel
report by Nava of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
I'd never used any Chanel skin care products prior to trying the new
Precision line. They always target older, aging skin, which I do not
have. I'm aging, but my skin still thinks I'm a teenager.
I'll admit some reluctance to approaching the Chanel counter at my local
Macys. My knowledge of their products is limited. I've never even worn
Chanel No. 5. Surprisingly, my introduction to the Precision line was
pretty painless. They have this nifty computer that tells you what type
of skin you have. Based on the answers you give, it will recommend
products from the 27 piece line. Here's what I purchased:
Aquamousse Foaming Cream Face Wash ($28.50 for a 5 oz. tube)
The sales associate at Macys claimed that of all the Precision cleansers, this one was her favorite. She said it would get my skin squeaky clean, but leave
it soft & smooth. She was right. A little of this cleanser foamed up
nicely and removed every trace of foundation & mascara from my face. I
was squeaky clean, soft and happy. I liked this cleanser very much. I
chose it over the Gel Purete foaming gel cleanser because foaming gels
tend to leave me disappointed. They claim to foam, but sometimes, all
they do is just slide right off your face with nary a bubble.
Lotion Purete Purifying Toner ($28.50 for a 6.8 fl. oz. bottle)
I bought this toner despite my feelings that toners are unnecessary. What sold me was that it did not contain any alcohol. Two of the first three
ingredients are witch hazel and aloe. It also contains Lemon and
Grapefruit extracts. It was both refreshing and soothing. I felt like it
was actually doing something for my skin. Admittedly, $28.50 is a lot to
spend for witch hazel and aloe.
Rectifiance Nuit Night Lift Restoring Lotion ($60.00 for a 1.7 oz.
bottle)
A light nighttime lotion containing seemingly every hot ingredient on the market: Retinyl Palmitate, Panthenol, Salicylic Acid, Glucosamine, Hydrolyzed Collagen, shea butter - you name it, it's in there. I was very impressed with this product. In the morning my skin was smooth, glowing and not the least bit oily.
Rectifiance Day Lift Refining Oil Free Lotion SPF 15 ($50.00 for a 1.7 oz.
bottle)
My prayers for a moisturizer with SPF that will not leave my
skin feeling like a used frying pan have been answered. Dare I say the
word "perfection"?
T-Mat Shine Control ($25.00 for a 1 oz. tube)
My request is already in to Chanel for vats of this and the Rectifiance Oil Free Lotion. Of course, I'll have to take out that second mortgage on my home, but who cares? The freedom of pulling out the powder compact once over the course of a hot, humid August day makes it worth it. A veritable skin care triumph.
Eye Correction Anti-Wrinkle Firming Eye Cream ($50.00 for a 1/2 oz. jar)
A rich, greaseless eye cream. It sank right into my skin when I used it
at night following the Rectifiance Nuit lotion. It claims to be for
nighttime as well as daytime use, but I only use eye cream at night. I'm
picky when it comes to eye creams, but I would definitely purchase this
again.
Chanel has a winner with the Precision line. I was hard pressed to find
many negatives. For those with sensitive skin, be warned that the
cleansers, toners and moisturizers contain a good dose of fragrance. The
eye products, however, are unscented.
Although the line is pricey, results can be expected. For the budget
conscious, omit the toner, or if you must, use one that is not as
expensive. Samples of most of the products are available, so you can try
before you buy.
Happy Shopping!
