Joey New York
report by Nava of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
Please indulge me in a little stereotypical humor. I grew up in Brooklyn
and now live on Long Island, so I can't resist: Could Joey Buttafuoco be
mixing up the products in his basement? Or, maybe Joey and Vinnie from
Bensonhurst cook them up at their pizzeria on 86th Street?
Thank you, I feel much better.
Now, on to the subject at hand - Joey New York Skincare. Great stuff!
Here's what I've tried:
Pure Pores Cleansing Gel with Vitamin C ($22.00 for an 8 oz. bottle)
I love this cleanser! It smells like fresh orange juice and has a gritty
texture. A tiny bit will clean all the makeup, dirt and grime off your
face. It removed every trace of eye makeup and left my face soft and
comfortable. It does a nice job exfoliating and did not irritate my skin
at all. It is recommended for combination, oily and acne skin types.
This cleanser will most likely be too harsh for those of you with drier
skin. Among the ingredients listed are Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Lactic
Acid, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Orange & Grapefruit oils.
Pure Pores Vitamin Toner with Ginseng ($16.00 for an 8 oz. bottle)
This toner immediately gets a thumbs up because it contains no alcohol.
Although, I do happen to really like it. It is soothing, and smells like
fresh cucumbers. It contains Ginseng, Aloe Vera and Fennel extracts along
with Vitamins A and C. A great follow-up to the Pure Pores Cleanser. At
this price, treat yourself. This is one toner that's worth it.
Pure Pores One-Step Toner and Moisturizer ($22.00 for an 8 oz. bottle)
After a long day at work, or a long night of partying, reach for this
product. When your usual cleanser/toner/moisturizer ritual poses a
monumental challenge, wash up and follow with a cotton pad soaked in Pure
Pores One-Step Toner and Moisturizer. Your face will thank you in the
morning. Or, If you hit the snooze button five times more than normal,
the same rules apply. It has Aloe Vera Juice, Glycolic Acid, Sodium PCA
and botanical extracts. It's a bit thicker than the Vitamin Toner and a
great multipurpose product. This product contains no alcohol.
Oil Free Moisturizer with Ginseng ($12.00 for a 1 oz. jar)
This moisturizer can almost make me forget about my La Mer (just kidding)!
Quick math question: How many jars of Joey Oil Free Moisturizer can you
buy for $135.00? Maybe I didn't get all the sarcasm out of my system
after all! This is a great, basic, oil free moisturizer that will not
leave you greasy and uncomfortable. Use it at night and wake up happy.
Use it under make-up and it will not expedite shine. I've also noticed
that my skin is less oily whenever I use it. Contains Sodium PCA, Linoleic
Acid (Vitamin F) and botanicals.
Chin Breakout Relief ($15.00 for a 1 oz. bottle)
Heather, I know you're waiting on pins and needles for this one. Well, it works! Even though it's called "Chin Breakout Relief," you can use it anywhere blemishes pop up. It says right on the bottle it is meant for monthly breakouts (no further explanation needed), and adult acne. Post Accutane, I usually fall victim to the monthly chin zits and this does a great job getting rid of them. Chin Breakout Relief does have alcohol in it, so please use it sparingly. It also contains Salicylic, Glycolic, Lactic, Malic & Citric acids, plus a bunch of weird sounding botanicals. But, hey, it knows what to do when you introduce it to a blemish!
You can find Joey New York online at joeynewyork.com, Beauty Cafe, Beautydoor.com, ibeauty.com
, beauty.com and Sephora.com
. They are fairly inexpensive, so I highly recommend some guilt-free experimentation.
Happy Shopping!
