Lancome Hydra Zen
report by Patty of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel

I was browsing through a magazine one day, and saw an ad for a free sample of Hydra Zen, the latest moisturizer from Lancôme, and decided to claim my sample.

I found out there are two kinds of Hydra Zen: A cream designed for Drier skins and a lighter fluid, for normal and combination skin types. I tried the fluid, since my skin is a bit oily (especially in the summer).

Hydra Zen is supposed to go beyond moisturizing to actually "de-stress" skin, and though I was not able to get a clear explanation of what "de-stressing" actually means, I gathered that it fights free radicals, and protects skin against environmental damage (without sunscreen). The fluid is light, has a nice "fresh" smell, and absorbs very quickly.

The first day I used Hydra Zen my skin felt nicely moisturized and refreshed. Unfortunately, after three consecutive days of use, my skin felt greasy and had quite a few new pimples (yuck!). I think this product is really made with dry skin in mind, and if that's your skin type, Hydra Zen might be worth a try. Otherwise, there are better moisturizers out there, especially for oilier skins.
