report by Nava of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel This product was a major disappointment. If you have overactive oil glands, like me, you're not going to be very happy with it either. The combination of oily skin, hot, humid summer weather and this foundation, is a recipe for disaster. I tried so hard to get Photogenic to work for me. The first day I wore it, I used my favorite oil control moisturizer underneath. My skin felt sticky and shiny within two hours of applying it. By mid-afternoon, it became noticeably streaky around my mouth, nose and forehead. The streaking became so bad that I had to do a full wipe-off, followed by an application of loose powder. The second day, I used some Chanel T-Mat Shine Control in place of my moisturizer. I managed to stave off the oily breakthrough for another couple of hours, but the streaks made another matinee appearance. On day three, I applied it on just my bare face. See above. I was so profoundly disappointed because for the short time Photogenic managed to stay put on my face, my skin looked perfect. Photogenic contains flat 2-D and spherical 3-D powders to reflect and diffuse light, plus a corrective blue pigment that helps soften red undertones (which I have) and brighten up a dull complexion. It really works. The one caveat is that it slides off in a hurry if you have oily skin. Luckily, I received a generous 10 day sample from the Lancome counter at Bloomingdales, instead of having to shell out $32.50 for a 1 oz. bottle. Oily skinned girls, there's still hope: If you'd still like to try a light-reflective base, give MAC Hyper Real foundation a try. The coverage is a bit sheerer, but it stays put beautifully, even in the highest heat and humidity. Happy shopping! review: 7/00 |
