Lancome
report by Radhika of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
I fell upon Lancome products by accident. I went to the Prescriptives counter bent upon trying their new foundation, I found no one there and went next door to the Lancome counter to asked the lady when she would be back. Being the great sales person that she was, I somehow ended up in the makeover chair. So a full makeover and lots of money later, I ended up with some great products!
Hydra Controle Mat Shine Control Moisturizer ($35)
I had already been shopping all day, and my face was a little on the shiny side when I sat down for the Lancome makeover. The first step the makeup artist did after removing my existing makeup was to use this lotion. It was pure magic. All of a sudden, I looked fresh and alive, like I just washed my face. My skin felt cool, soft and moisturized, but not heavy at all. It is oil-free, and has a very light almost unnoticeable fragrance. It didn't keep my face shine free all day, but nothing short of a miracle in a bottle could do that! For people with oily skin, this is a great moisturizer and I am already on my second bottle!
Photogenic Skin Illuminating makeup in Suede (4) ($33.50)
I have never been too loyal to a particular brand of foundation. I always use the reason of an empty bottle as the excuse to try a new brand and formula. The ironic part is that I always have a hard time finding a good match for my skin - you would think I would find one and stick to it - but experimenting is half the fun! This foundation was a perfect match for my skin color, and a great consistency, not too heavy, but still offered good coverage. It satisfied my two "must haves": oil free and SPF 15. It also has the added benefit of a formula that "evens your complexion and makes you look good in every light." I found all this to be true and it even passed the photograph test (no ashy skin when the flash hit). I will definitely consider this foundation again, once my bottle runs out.which is a pretty big compliment coming from me!
Juicy Tubes ($15.50)
I have been using Juicy Tubes since when they first hit the market, long before I accidentally fell upon Lancôme makeup. It is a great gloss to wear alone or over your favorite lip liner. I have two colors and never leave home without at least one. They are a little on the heavy side, but that helps them last longer. It can get annoying when your long hair blows in a windstorm and gets stuck to your lips because of your gloss. (Yes, it happens to me all the time)! The two colors I have right now are Sun Bronze and Soleil. They both have a totally different effect on my lips when used over the same lip liner. Just be careful not to lick the great flavors off!
Le Crayon Khol in Black Coffee ($19)
This is a great pencil, in a great color for dark skin. Most of the time, dark skinned people usually end up using black liner, since the browns tend to blend with the skin. This color is a great color that is almost a rich chocolate color. The pencil glides on very easy and the colors lasts most of the day. Though I am very happy with this product, it is nothing extraordinary and I have used other liners that cost less than $19.
Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Aubergine ($20.50)
This is a great color that helped give my eyes a naturally emphasized look, but only after I can get it on. The formula is not smooth at all, and it took many attempts going over the same line to get any line. I have had this problem with most long lasting eyeliners, and therefore stay away from them. It takes too much tugging and pulling in the sensitive eye area for it to have any effect. But once I get it on, the color is a winner and so is the lasting power - if only it could glide on better!
