L'Oreal Translucide Lasting Luminous Makeup
report by Adrienne of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel

This foundation has been promoted so heavily that even I thought I could look like Heather Locklear if I used it! So much for truth in advertising.

Translucide is oil-free, SPF 18 and has vitamin C. I tried it in Caramel Beige. L'Oreal wisely sells samples in sets of three according to skin tone, so I picked up a few to get the right color. (I really like trying things first before I pay full price). My first thought while applying this was how slimy it felt. I hoped that if I gave it some time to set, that feeling would go away. It didn't. Any makeup I applied over it, like blush, just slid right off. It never adhered properly. Now, I know that the whole premise of this product is to give a soft, luminous look, so I kept trying. Eventually, I figured out that I needed to use a whole lot of powder over this product to get it to stay on, which defeats the whole purpose. Now I just had a matte look, not a luminous one. Perhaps someone with very dry skin would like this product, but anyone else will find that their face has become an oil slick that is impossible to work with! This foundation does not live up to all the hype. If you are a normal to oily skin type, don't bother. (I would love to hear if this foundation works for anyone with dry skin. Let me know.)
