L'Oreal Pure Zone
report by Tina of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
I must admit I rarely use skin care products from a drugstore. I've always assumed that if they're in a drugstore, they must contain harsh, generic ingredients. Plus I'm a sucker for the higher priced brands' fancy packaging. Skeptically, I gave the new L'Oreal Pure Zone a try. It's a new line that claims to help stop breakouts. Although I don't have acne breakouts, to my disbelief I really liked it!
Skin Balancing Cream Cleanser

Pure Zone cleanser is iridescent white with a thick consistency like toothpaste. It doesn't lather into a foam, but remains creamy. Because there is Salicylic acid, I was afraid it would dry out my skin or cause it to break out in a rash, but it didn't. It caused my skin to tingle, and was quite invigorating along with the fresh, light fragrance. Although this cleanser is not good at removing eyeliner and mascara, I would definitely buy it again.
Pore Tightening Astringent

I normally don't use toner because I'm not convinced I really need it, but I gave Pure Zone toner a try as part of this complete regimen. I actually really like this toner. Like the cleanser, it contains salicylic acid, but that and the alcohol didn't dry out or disturb my skin. My face didn't feel too tight or too oily like some other toners I've tried. And the fragrance is light and refreshing just like the cleanser. I would definitely buy this one again.
Skin Relief Oil Free Moisturizer

This moisturizer is like a paradox. It's an oil-free moisturizer but it makes my skin super matte. I've never seen anything like it! I have an oily T-zone, but all skin requires moisture, so this one is perfect for me! The consistency is thick and creamy, and the color is iridescent white, like the cleanser. If it had SPF 15 it would be a Godsend, but it doesn't. I don't think this would be a good moisturizer for someone with dry skin, though.
I must say I was really impressed with the L'Oreal Pure Zone skin care line. It makes me reconsider my prejudice against drugstore brand skin care.
You can find Pure Zone products at drugstores, and discount stores like Target, Walmart and Kmart. If you prefer shopping online, ULTA.com
sells them for $6.99 each.
