report by Jenny of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel The Murad Acne Complex ($59.90) is the latest addition to the "As seen on TV" variety of skincare products. The Complex is a set of three products designed to treat acne, as well as other skin irritations (such as Rosacea and Eczema). The first step of the regimen is the Clarifying Skin Cleanser. This is my favorite product in the Complex. The cleanser is a foaming gel with Salicylic Acid and Triclosan to kill acne-causing bacteria. The cleanser smells pleasantly like grapefruit and it foams a lot! It cleanses with a pleasant tingling sensation and leaves the skin feeling very clean and smooth. The Acne Prone Skin Formula is the next step of the complex. The Skin Formula has a variety of ingredients designed to exfoliate, reduce oil and bacteria, and improve overall skin texture. The active ingredient in the Formula, however, is Salicylic Acid. This product confused me because I was expecting a toner; instead, the formula is similar to a gel. It has a strong medicinal smell and I find it to be the most drying of the products. The final product in the Complex is the Skin Perfecting Lotion. This lotion has Retinol and its purpose, ultimately, is to moisturize. The lotion is good for hydrating the skin after use of the Skin Formula product. This lotion has a slightly greasy feel, but it moisturizes very well. It removes any flaky skin and leaves the skin smooth. As a former Proactiv Solutions user, I do like Murad better than Proactiv. I find that the Murad Complex leaves the skin smoother and clearer. While Murad does not leave my skin completely clear and blemish free, regular use keeps my skin under control. My skin feels smoother and more supple. review: 1/01
