report by Judith of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
Several years ago I started experimenting with different skin care products and drifted away from my old standby. A few months ago, when I got a coupon in the mail for Olay Total Effects, I thought that it was time to revisit Olay.
I tested Total Effects for two weeks, wearing it under my makeup and on its
own when I wasn't wearing foundation. The promos for Total Effects claim
to fights the "seven signs of aging":
The light fragrance and texture of this product really fit the bill and I had high hopes that I had found another staple for my moisturizer arsenal. It worked great under makeup... No greasiness or streaking foundation by the end of the day! Unfortunately, after two weeks, I started to develop little bumps on my jawline... not pimples, but little hard bumps that didn't hurt, but were just there!... Since Total Effects was the only new product I had introduced to my regime, it was obvious that it was the culprit. Upon discontinuation of the product, the bumps disappeared. While Oil of Olay advertises that Total Effects is dermatologist tested, non-comedogenic, and oil free, the ingredient list has several highly comedogenic ingredients. So, it's back to the search for a perfect moisturizer for me. My recommendation is to try this product carefully, but don't be surprised if it doesn't live up to all the hype that has accompanied its release. Happy Shopping! You can purchase Olay Total Effects at Drugstore.com
