Origins
report by Bobbi of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel

Recently, while making my regular tour through the Lazarus Beauty Department (Federated Stores) a few weeks ago, I stopped at the Origins counter to look at the display for their new Underwear for Lips. I like Origins products and since my lips are beginning to have tiny lines, decided to give it a try. Of course, I didn't stop there. I also purchased some Lasting Lip Color and Pinch Your Cheeks Blush!

Underwear for Lips ($12)
Underwear for Lips is a lip primer that is touted to "plump, shape and minimize little lines", thereby giving your mouth "the softest, most shapely of silhouettes". The Origins representative told me that you put two dots of the primer on each side of the bow on the upper lip. Then place three dots on the bottom lip, equally spaced. Rub your lips together and wait a couple of minutes for the primer to dry (It definitely feels dry on your lips,). Then apply your lip liner and lipstick as usual. The lipstick is to resist feathering and is supposed to last longer.

Silica plumps up the cracks and fine lines. It moisturizes the lips with Glycerin, Jojoba and Vegetable Oils (jojoba seed oil and hydrogenated olive oil).

I like what this product does to pump up the lips. I think it definitely gives an illusion that the lips are smoother and fuller. However, the lip color did not last any longer than normal. I will continue to use this product, but I am not sure I will buy it again.

Pinch Your Cheeks ($10)
This is Origins blush in a tube. It provides a natural rosy glow on the skin. There is only one shade and it is a deep rose color. It is designed to work for everyone and every tone of makeup. I feel that a cream works better since my skin is aging (the powder seems to just lay on top of my skin).

This cream is very emollient and goes on smoothly. To apply, squeeze a small amount onto your fingers and apply to cheeks. BUT, you have to work FAST, as it dries very quickly. I don't like the fact that it stains your fingers. You have to be near water, or your fingers are bright pink.

However, I do really like this blush. The color is natural, and it stays on for a long time. I would recommend your trying it, if you like creams.

Lasting Lip Color ($12)
I couldn't leave without a new lipstick! I selected Party Punch (23). It is a bright pink, but a soft one. This lipstick tingles when you put it on, and it smells like mint. It has moisturizing properties (Vitamin E) and is long-lasting.

I love the color. Bright pinks are MY color, and this one is especially nice with the new spring colors. It is minty and smooth, but I don't feel like it lasts as long as it should. I have been using it for a couple of weeks, under different conditions, and I think it fades as quickly as any other lipstick.

Origin products are available at major department stores as well as through Gloss.com.
