Osea Skincare
report by Patty of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel

I first discovered OSEA skin care when a friend recommended I check out their "Passion" scent line. She loves the unique smell. I tried some of the passion perfume oil but really didn't care for the smell (actually, it was more like "what is this awful smell?"). I have since been told that "Passion" is a scent you either love or you hate - there's no in-between. However, I did see a few other products I thought might be worth a try.

Ocean Mudd ($24)
This is a facial cleanser made for oilier skin types. As its name suggests, many of the ingredients are natural ocean components, and it has a dirty, "muddy" texture. The pump dispenser is a nice touch and the cleanser foams up nicely. However, I really can't say that I liked this cleanser much. The cooling mint made my skin feel really clean, but my mirror and toner told a different story. This cleanser does a lousy job of removing makeup and debris. I also noticed more frequent breakouts while using ocean mudd.

Ocean Cleanser ($22)
Now this is more like it! After my disappointing bout with OSEA mudd, I had low expectations of this cleanser labeled for "normal and sensitive skin." Turns out, this is a great cleanser for my oily skin. This cleanser has that same cute pump dispenser and light foam as the OSEA mudd, but the similarities end there. Ocean cleanser does an excellent job of removing makeup, and leaving the skin looking and feeling clean. I recommend this product to anyone with normal or oily skin, but am not in agreement with the label's recommendation for sensitive skins. Ocean cleanser has a slightly astringent quality and AHA that may irritate sensitive skin.

Sea Plasma Spray ($8 for one ounce)
Maybe I'm just a sucker for anything that can be sprayed onto skin, but I love the moisturizing mist, sea plasma. The name gives the main ingredients away: seaweed and Dead Sea salts. I use this moisturizer whenever my skin feels too oily for my regular lotion moisturizer. I also like to spritz it on over makeup midday as a refreshing treat. As with the ocean cleanser, I can't recommend this product to people with sensitive skin. The citric acid (among other ingredients) might aggravate sensitive skin.

Overall, I think OSEA is a product line worth checking out. I plan to try a few more OSEA products in the near future and I'll let you know what I find out. In the mean time, you can try them out by visiting oseaskin.com.
