Skinplicity
report by Deb of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel

First, some background about me! I am 47 years old and I have fair skin that has an oily T-zone at the least and large pores with occasional blemishes at the most. My hair color is chestnut/ auburn and my skin burns easily so the oil is sort of a mystery. Now on to the review!

Skinplicity is the skin care line from Sears. It offers 5 formulas: oily, combination oily, combination dry, dry, and dehydrated. The line is very simple with just 4 steps - cleanser, refiner (toner), AHA serum, and moisturizer. Skinplicity also has other products like eye creams, Easy Go Makeup Remover, Lip Buffer, Hand and Body Treatment, Over and Out Blemish Cream, Moisture Wrap Peeloff Mask and a Pore Purge Clay Mask, which I bought since I have a pore problem. The products have antioxidants and natural ingredients like apple, kola nut and bisabolol (from chamomile).

I tried the formula for oily skin (blue) because of my pores and occasional blemishes. Here's the rundown:

Come Clean cleanser ($8.50 in liquid or bar)
This did a fantastic job of removing heavy makeup and cleaning the pores. The best thing was no tight dry feeling afterwards. In my opinion, Lancôme's pink gel cleanser is not nearly as efficient as this one.

Skin Refiner toner ($8.50)
This is a real kick! This oily skin formula has oil blotting powders, talc, and titanium dioxide in it, and you have to shake it up before you use it. It leaves the skin lightly powdered and soft, not tight or dry. I really enjoy this toner.

AHA Skin Serum (2 ounces for $15.00)
This is an alpha hydroxy serum, so by its nature can cause some irritation for some people. This product does use the gentlest of the AHA acids, lactic acid, and grape extract. I had a warm feeling like sun across my cheeks and nose, not stinging, when I used it. This went away after the fourth evening. The makers suggest you only use this at night, so I did. Since AHA's make me peel a little, I followed the instructions and only used it once a day. I felt this serum worked better for me than a cream with AHA mixed in it.

Action + Moisture Lotion (2 ounces for $8.50 or 4 ounces for $10.50, in liquid or cream)
This is a very good moisturizer for oily skin because it is oil free. It does have humectants in it that keeps the moisture in your skin and also draws moisture from the air and binds it to your skin. After applying this, your skin feels very soft but no trace of oil.

Pore Purge Clay Mask ($10.00)
This is a clay mask with minerals and tiny exfoliating beads. Leave it on 10 minutes then work with your fingers in circular motions to scrub. I did not feel dry at all after this mask. While it was on, my cheeks tingled slightly but there was no discomfort at all. If you have really sensitive skin, this mask could be a little strong. I really like this mask. My mom said she thought my skin did look better after only 4 days, so she is going to use it as well. The mask helped to minimize my large pore problem. Remember, if pores are really cleaned out, they can be smaller!

The simplicity of the line is a huge plus with today's hectic schedules. The wide variety of skin types (5) offered is most helpful. Remember, I used the formula for oily skin and it is very strong but not stripping. I will go into the combination oily line on a permanent basis because the oily line is so strong. The bottom line is that my skin looks visibly better (smoother, smaller pores, newer looking) in only 4 days. Skinplicity works, and it works very well.

The price has to be a giant plus especially for a line that works this well. There is a great amount of written material offered by Skinplicity and it's a good thing because help was hard to get on my visit. These brochures are very informative. There is also a phone number you can call and speak to someone about the products.
