Trucco Stardust Baby - Spring 2000
report by Gayle of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel

Sebastian makes great hair products so I was more than curious to try their makeup line. Stardust Baby is a six piece makeup collection that will be available in March 2000 in salons that carry Sebastian products. It features a holographic color collection, a sparkle loose powder, one blush, and 3 Divinyls Lip glosses. You can visit their web site at sebastian-intl.com to learn more about these products.

Angel Face Holographic Colour Collection ($25)
Five shades - Angel Gold, Angel Blue, Angel Red, Angel Violet and Angel Green - are in one slim compact. These shades carry no color pigments but are holographic color pearls that go from white to bright when the light reflects off them. You can use them on the face, cheeks, lips and eyes. I used Angel Gold on my upper eyelid and Angel Green on my lower eyelid and found the colors appeared when the light hit my face. If your eyelids are oily, I suggest you use a translucent powder first, otherwise the pearls do not blend well. I had a unique fun look but felt this product would be better suited for a teenager or for an evening on the town. This is a totally unique concept in makeup but I was not truly impressed with it.

Rock Candy Sparkle Loose Powder ($16)
This translucent powder sparkles when the light reflects off it. I liked this powder because it is matte and matches every skin tone. It goes on easily and really gives the skin a shine that looks almost wet. If your a lover of loose powder, this one's for you.

So Shy One Blush ($12)
This blush is definitely pink. But, when applied to your cheeks, it leaves a light hue of color. One Blush has a totally matte finish and is very soft looking. I really like this blush but feel it would be good for cool skin tones only.

Divinyls Lip Glosses ($8)
These come in 3 shades that would match any skin color: VivaVegas (a coral color with a tangerine scent), BabyDoll (looks and tastes like pink cotton candy) and CyberLiscious (a silverized lavender color that tastes like grapes). These lip glosses made my lips feel very sticky but I liked the subdued colors and the incredible glossy shine. I've tried other lip glosses but they did not make my lips feel this sticky. It must be due to the oils, petrolatum, paraffin and beeswax that they contain. I was not very impressed with this product.

Overall, if you want a futuristic face for the spring, this line would be perfect. For me, I think I'll stick to the classic colors that I have learned to love and can use in my everyday life.
