Urban Decay
report by Connie of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
I am so excited about this review! I have been looking forward to telling
you about some new cosmetics that I have tried from Urban Decay. Urban Decay is funky to begin with, but this makeup was just so much fun to use! I felt like I was playing dress up and I am 30.
YDK Nail Enamel ($9.50)
This product comes in a vile that looks close to what tooth pain medication comes in. It is a glass vile with a black lid and a brush attached to the inside of the lid. The lid that holds the brush is a bit small and kind of hard to hold, which does not help with the application of the polish. Other than that this is an awesome polish. I was a bit leery of the color - gold with sparkles in it - but once I had the polish on it was really great looking. The gold is not that bright on the nail and the sparkles are not obnoxious, they are fun. The polish lasts forever and made my nails really strong. I had the polish on for about a week without any signs of chipping. This is definitely worth a look and I plan on purchasing other colors.
Eyeshadow ($14) in Crash, Midnight Cowboy and YDK
The product comes in a cardboard box wrapping with funky lettering and
catchy phrases. My favorites were "ingredients, femininity, danger and
fun", "pigment intense shimmer and sparkle shades, incredibly blendable,
very versatile", and when you open, the lid the best phrase, "we don't do
animal testing, how could we." Whoever is doing their packaging is one
smart cookie. The eyeshadow comes in a cool tin with a pull-off cap. The
shadows are wonderfully fun and full of color. Each had their own amount
of shimmer and sparkle to them, but it was not overwhelming and looked
great on. I have worn these colors to work and not looked foolish. They
are subtle yet eye-catching colors that really blend well. I did not
have a creasing problem either, but I always use powder under my
eyeshadows to avoid this. YDK is a great metallic bronze shade that looks
great with the polish. Midnight Cowboy is a light fun taupe color. I
also used Midnight Cowboy over my blush at night to give it some sparkle,
too. Crash is a great deep purplish/wine shade with lots of sparkle to
it. I used this at the base of my eyelid around my lashes and it added
great flair. I have really enjoyed these colors.
Lipstick ($12) in Jekyl and Hyde, YDK, and Uzi
This comes in the same style cardboard box wrapper as the eyeshadow does. The lipstick is in a standard tube style container that is metallic silver. I definitely liked the lipsticks. They were not the same boring colors that I am use to. They were long lasting, did not bleed, and blended well with the lip liners. They were also not drying to my lips. YDK of course goes well with the rest of the YDK line. It is a great frosty cocoa color
that really pops out on my lips. I used this mostly for day wear. Jekyl
and Hyde was my favorite. It has one side that is a frosty dark bronze
color and the other side is this cool silver frost color. I used the
bronze first and then applied the silver over that. What a cool look! It
was like my lips were highlighted in the middle. Great evening color,
when you have a fun night out planned. Uzi gave me that extra zing on my
lips. This is definitely not for everyone, but I had fun using it. It is
a silver lipstick with tons of sparkles in it that get transferred to
your lips. I used this over Jekyl and Hyde for that extra pop. It went on
really easy and was not hard to remove.
Eye Pencil ($12) in Soot and Meltdown
This product comes in your standard pencil stick with a funky silver color and design on it. Soot is a true black pencil that glides on beautifully. I kept it really sharp and it drew lines like a breeze. It never once creased in my eyelid or ran down my face. Meltdown is a great purple color that looks smashing with the Crash eyeshadow. Purple is a bit odd for an eye pencil, but again the color did not look odd on my face. In fact it enhanced my eyes. Unfortunately, Meltdown is rough getting on the lid and under the eye and had a tendency to break apart with application.
Lip Pencil ($10) in Midnight Cowboy and Roach
Great Scott, this is a great lip pencil! Both colors went on smooth without breaking apart and lined really well without pressing hard. The colors are wonderful and go with most of my brown shades of lipstick. I used Roach with Jekyl and Hyde and it was a perfect match. I am a big liner fan and this product really lasted a long while. However, Midnight Cowboy is identical to MProfessional's Spice. I really liked it, but I have Spice already.
