Zia Natural Skincare
report by Jennifer of the Cosmetic Connection Product Panel
Zia Natural Skincare is based on one simple philosophy - natural. That
means no artificial colors, fragrances and no mineral oil. These products
contain enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants, seaweed and essential oils. I
found this line at my local co op. It can also be found at various health
stores around the country. I must have spent an hour checking out each
tester and savoring all the delightful aromas. I love products with a
clean fresh scent. My absolute favorite thing about this product line is
their mini sized products, not only great for travel, but also for
experimentation without a small investment. The following is a list of
products I tried and my thoughts on each one. It was a challenge to limit
myself. I definitely plan on trying out their other products.
Fresh Cleansing Gel (2oz. for $4.75 or 8oz. for $15.50)
This cleanser is recommended for normal skin and although I have dry skin I gave it a try. I have this thing about needing suds to feel clean. I am still scouting everywhere for the perfect creme cleanser. When I tried this for the first time I used too much product as a tried to get a foaming action. I was pleasantly surprised by this product. It is the perfect balance between suds and creme. It actually has an emollient feeling and a little goes a long way. This cleanser left my skin feeling somewhat taut, but not uncomfortably so. My face felt clean and refreshed and I thouroughly enjoyed the soothing, fresh scent of this product. The only thing I would like to see changed is the dispenser. I prefer a pump vs. this open and pour bottle. I highly recommend this product.
Sea Tonic Rosewater and Aloe Toner (2 oz for $4.75 or 4.5 oz. for
$8.75)
This toner is used after the cleanser. It is supposed to hydrate and soother the skin , however I did not notice any significant changes to my skin. I tried the skincare system without this product and got the same results. The product is soothing and cooling, nice for summertime (especially in my area of the country). I like the idea of using it as a rosewater mist to refresh myself.
Ultimate Eye Creme (.5oz for $29.95)
Wow!!! I loved this eyecreme. I cannot tell you how many times I have been coerced into purchasing eyecremes that have not delivered what they promise. But with this product I actually saw a visible difference in the tiny lines that have begun to appear (I am entering a new decade after all). This eyecreme is very emollient and a little goes a long way. I also loved the faint sweet aroma of this product. A MUST for anyone fighting the hands of time.
Hydrating Mask (3oz. for $24.95)
Because I have such dry skin I love any product that is
soothing and leaves an afterglow. This product did just that. I received
this one as a sample, which was good for about three uses. Definitely a
pampering treat yourself right product.
Enzyme Peel (1.5 oz. for $20.95)
This product is meant to replace an exfoliator. It is for
all skin types and acts as a cellular stimulant as it dissolves dead skin
cells. It contains papain, an active enzyme from raw green papaya. You
spread a thin layer all over the face and neck and leave on for 20 to 40
minutes, so make sure you set aside some time to try this product.
Personally, I prefer the grainy feel of a scrub, but this is a nice
change. It was very soothing and light, not at all drying or irritating,
which I liked. Defintely worth trying.
After my purchases I received an informational brochure with a toll free
number. Consultants are available to consumers to answer questions and
provide skincare advice. You can also purchase directly from the co. Zia
Natural Skincare is systematic and easy to use. I really enjoyed the
products and will absolutely re visit my local co op for more.
