This week I am pleased to bring you my complete review of the new Organics skincare line from Kiss My Face. Enjoy!
Kiss My Face has always prided themselves for offering natural skin care and cosmetics, and this new Organics line is no different. In addition to the natural organic herbs, the products are also unique because there are no added preservatives (the pump dispensers keep the ingredients air-tight and bacteria-free), no added fragrance, no "unnecessary" chemicals, no artificial colors, no animal testing, and no animal ingredients. All of the products are brimming with fruit and plant extracts and oils, and they are reasonably priced between $9-16. Overall I like the line and would recommend it to anyone looking for truly natural skincare.
Gentle Face Cleanser ($10 for 4 ounces)
This lotion cleanser has an intriguing aroma blend of rose, red clover and orange, but more importantly, it takes off makeup nicely and doesn't leave an oily film on your face. The label says for normal/dry skin, but I think it's a great choice for any skin type.
Exfoliating Face Wash ($10 for 4 ounces)
If you prefer a cleanser that foams, this light, citrusy gel is for you. I don't think you'll really get much exfoliation from this, but used daily for normal/oily skin (or as a weekly pick-me-up for other skin types), the fragrant blend of lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon grass, orange and lime oils also have a slightly astringent quality that leaves your skin feeling really fresh and alive.
Aloe & Chamomile Toner for normal/dry skin, and Aloe & Tea Tree Astringent for normal/oily skin ($9 each for 4 ounces)
These are both sprays, contain no alcohol, and have essential oils like lavender and tea tree in a base of aloe and witch hazel. The only difference is the normal/oily one has camphor while the normal/dry version has chamomile.
Ultra Light Facial Creme ($10 for 4 ounces)
If you hate most moisturizers because they feel too heavy or greasy, this is a lotion for you. Whoever came up with this product's name is right on target. The vegetable based glycerin ingredients keep moisture in your skin throughout the day without making it oily or slick. Grapeseed oil also moisturizes and acts as an anti-oxidant, and a blend of grapefruit, tea tree, lemon grass and orange oils have a slightly astringent effect that's great for normal/oily
skin - plus they smell terrific!
Vitamin C & A Ultra Rich Moisturizer ($15 for 1 ounce)
Dry skin, get ready for relief! This rich lotion has a heavenly red clover scent and moisturizes with sunflower, grapeseed, jojoba, and rose oils plus vitamins A, C, and E.
Anti-Ox Facial Serum ($15 for one ounce)
As with other anti-oxidant products, it's not immediately obvious if they are doing anything for the skin. What makes this serum different is its completely natural ingredients: organic rose hips, aloe, vitamins A and E, plus borage, lemon, lime, chamomile, lavender, tea tree, and grapefruit oils. If nothing else, it smells great and makes a nice, light moisturizer.
Organic Jojoba & Mint Facial Scrub ($10 for 2 ounces)
I really like the consistency of this scrub - just scrubby enough to feel it, but gentle enough to use every day - but the mint can really bowl you over. If your skin isn't bothered by plant oils, then you'll probably enjoy the eye-opening aroma; my skin wasn't too happy about so much mint, so I've got to limit my use to once a week at the most.
Botanical Acne Gel ($16 for 1.7 ounces)
Again, a treatment like this with high levels of peppermint, tea tree, and camphor oils can work great for some people's acne, and not so hot for others - I'm one of the "others" and can't use it (makes my acne more red and inflamed). If you've had success with botanical treatments in the past, or if you've tried everything else and are curious about the "all natural" option, this gel is worth trying. It's alcohol free and contains aloe and chamomile, so it's gentler than most chemical acne gels. A little goes a long way, so the 1.7 ounce bottle should easily last several months.
